Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Post by PetrolDave » Sun Jan 09, 2011 7:42 pm

Anyone else see the article in yesterday's Telegraph Motoring section about the replacement for the Michelin PS2 - the Pilot Super Sport?

According to this http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/news/new-m ... s-1264.php it will be available in the 255/35 and 275/30 XL sizes/rating for the RS4.

Looks to be a good improvement over the PS2.

Looks like a good improvement; will be interesting to hear owners' views. Have you seen any mention of price?

This could be a very good tyre. I've had good experiences with the PS2 in other cars and this one seems to be a fair bit better than that.

Interesting - thanks Dave

My only concern with them being praised by the Telegraph is that they might veer consistently to the right!

I though PS3's were the replacement to PS2's or has that name been copywritten already by Sony?

The PS3 came out last year http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/news/new-m ... s3-232.php so it looks like the Super Sport is the successor to the PS2 & PS3.

SJRS4 - Did the PS3's fit OK. Just about fitted a couple of them this morning, but the supplier had A0's delivered instead of R01's, then found this, http://rs246.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB ... ic&t=88578 on the RS6 forum.

Hi RAS,

Unless I'm seriously missing something, the PS3's appear to be fine with no rubbing whatsoever (and I know they are the A0's as this is on the invoice). I'll be checking tomorrow for signs of wear but I haven't heard or felt anything untoward.

For those that didn't know, stated below are the definitions of the respective tyre markings that I received from Michelin today:-

RO1 - Specific for Audi Quattros, RS4, RS6 & R8. - All new vehicles from Audi of this type have specifically marked tyres. Complete vehicle sets recommended, on vehicles originally specified with RO1 tyres.

AO - All Audi's - All new vehicles from this car maker have specifically marked tyres. Improves certain performance aspects on vehicles designed for these tyres.
