Falken 452's!

Post by Digger » Fri Dec 31, 2010 1:34 pm

Feel like a bit of a naive guinea pig on this one!

Having purchased and fitted new Falken tyres on my previous 328i and 540i without issue I have ordered a set of Falken 452 tyres for my 6+ !!

Not only may this go against perceived wisdom but I have gone for 275/30R19 96Y XL all round.

Firstly just wanted to discover if anyone has had a negative experience (Nobbly or otherwise) with the fitment of these specific tyres on the oem rims?

Secondly if there is no knowledge out there am I better off NOT fitting these and going for the known 275 Vred Ultrac Sessanta, or better yet just stick with plain 255's, if only to stay safe, warranteed & insured?!

I'd get rid of the knobbly for piece of mind, even though there may be clearance when you fit them and at the correct pressure, if you get a puncture the tyre will distort and possibly get ripped to shreds. I think someone on here had this happen.

I need educating! Where exactly is Ol' Knobbly located? Is it front nearside? Wheel turned in?

Or here

It's the extra "lump" at the top of the curved suspension arm where it bends over the top of the tyre.

As above, watch the nobly bit. May have lost tyres at speed because of it. Ask MoRS6+!!!!!!!!

Check your tyre fitment carefully... My 255 only just miss it,,,,

@Bilko1
Sorry to thread hijack, but wow those C6 alloys look the doggys danglies on the C5 saloon. http://audisrs.com/ftopic14511-15.php
Has anyone got a pic of the Avant with the same rims? Would be very tempted if they look even half as good as on the saloon.

Bizarre but I think the C5 Saloon looks better with the C6 alloys than the Avant, couldn't tell you why though. :?

My inquiring mind is hypothesizing by how much in mm's a tyre's diameter might expand, at prolonged high speed, on a warm day, and thus slightly raised tyre pressures and warmer, suppler rubber. Is this when knobbly most enjoys coming out to play?
