K04 upgrade. Can I raise the boost pressure?

Post by AFAP18 » Thu Feb 05, 2004 4:55 pm

Well

I just got my S4 converted with the RS 4 turbos .
The car is running really great, but nothing extraordirary ,as I expected.
My mechachic told me that he has maintained the boost presure and adapted the fuelXair regulation to meet the K04 specs.
Question is, should I increase the boost pressure in order to get the full profit of these new turbos. What have you done with your car?

Who did the work for you?

Do you know what boost it is running at just now?
Mine is running about 1.6/1.7 bar overboost and settles at 1.4 bar ... I have the larger fuel injectors also to help things run smoothly ...

So I guess it really depends what it is running at the moment as to wither you can ...

After I got my car done, it was a BIG difference ... so maybe there is room for play with your car ...

Cheers,
Rich.

Did you have it remapped following the fitment of the RS4 turbos - if you didn't you should only expect circa. 30bhp increase (and probably a loss of flexibility low down) - I would agree with you that 30bhp is not going to give you the 'wow' factor. Also, did you fit less restrictive downpipes whilst the turbos were being done - these alone are worth circa. 20bhp and (more importantly), will allow the turbos to spin up more quickly offering better response.

Rich

My car is running 1.5 of overboost and 0.9 of regular.I do not have the RS 4 injectors.
Did you get only the injectors, or the airbox, y-pipe, and RS4 MAF as well?
By the way, have you got any performance numbers? I will test with G-tech pro tonight.

I would agree with Nige, there is a lot of other factors that you need to look at to get the best out of KO4's.

I would say the 0.9 is low, but then again you need to keep within the safty levels for all the other stuff you have still on your car like the injectors.

I have not had the air intake done, thats the next task along with larger intercoolers.

Performance figures, I would say my 0-60 is around 4s but that is bruttle starts, so not really tested many times! Certainly at the higher end there is also a big difference, the needle just flys up even at 100+

The car has the full exaulst from APR, plus the down pipes of GHL. The sound is amazing. Something to be amazed .
But as I did all the changes once , I do not know how just the exaulst would be.
So I was expecting more of these new K0 4 configuration.I should do the remaping all over again. Which do you think is the best configuration?

Guys

I just go the car tested with G-tech pro, and the best 1/4 mile was 13.606 seconds.
This is just a little bit better than what I had with the stage 1.(13.789)

What should i do?

Simple answer: go get it checked out for faults and re-mapped to suit your hardware by someone reputable. eg. AMD

Yeah

we do not have AMD in Brazil . It´s a shame. But the tunning market is increasing a lot. We´ve got Oettinger here, and the mapping and faults will be done by them.

Thanks for the answers

Best Regards

Without the right software you are S.O.L. unless you run a MBC. Manifold pressure should give you the right fuel but on stock injectors don't expect to turn it too high. Safely say 1.3bar

i second what he said, in order to do that you have to have and convertion meaning turbos, fuel sys., and the y pipe with hoses, flex hose, the airbox and the maf sensor, intercoolers and exhaust to be able to realize that presure.
