RNS-E satnav and 'Home' destination

Post by wolfgang » Sat Dec 04, 2010 9:33 pm

Is there any way to program a 'Home' destination on the RNS-E satnav? Most satnavs i've used before have a dedicated 'Home' memory location.

Yes there is ;)

When using navigation the staus of the home function is detirmined by the type of guidence selected. If you press the function selector button a 2nd time when the route with stopover is activatedyou will return to route plan menu. If you press the function selector a 2nd time when route without stopover mode is activated you will be taken to the navigation main menu single distinatoin mode.

or you can use history mode and select last destinations

Or you can just save your destination with the name "HOME"

But then if your car gets stolen, they know there's a pretty good chance nobody is at home and the sat nav will guide them straight there. Heard a few reports of that before

Agree that saving home as HOME can be risky.

Just save destinations you want quick access to with the "Display as top destination" box ticked - then they will appear on the main navigation screen, just scroll down and you'll see them. If you save all your family ones then no thief will know which is your home and which are the rest of your family.

Just save 'home' as a few streets away. I'm sure you will know your way home from there..

For 'Home' I only put the street name in, not the door number, so it takes me to the centre of the street which is some way away from my house.

Anyway, the only way that i've managed to do it is to use the 'Names' function and then select the address from within there by using 'Recent destinations'. This is quite long-winded. Is there a way to store a previous destination and to select 'Display as top destination' from within the Nav menu?
