2003 RS6 Saloon, Mugello Blue - priced to sell

Post by rossm » Sat Nov 20, 2010 1:03 pm

Hi, we regretfully have our 2003 RS6 Saloon for sale with ~76.5k miles in Mugello Blue and full black leather interior. Same owner for >3 years, extremely well maintained and regularly cleaned/polished inside and out. All the common RS6 weak points have been addressed (DRC/Gearbox/Leaking intercoolers/alternator), over £3k spent in the last 4 months with RS specialists.

Maintenance history in my ownership as follows:

16/10/10 (74,947 miles) - MOT
30/09/10 (74,383 miles) - Front suspension upper arms replaced [Russell Automotive]
15/09/10 (73,893 miles) - 10k service, brake fluid change, replacement front o/s brake caliper due to corroded/seized brake nipple, minor oil/coolant leaks resolved around heat exchanger, rear prop seal replaced due to minor oil weep [MRC]
14/7/10 (72,702 miles) - Alternator replacement [Watford Audi]
10/5/10 - General healthcheck to resolve minor oil leak around oil filter plate and intercooler end tank leaks repaired with recommended epoxy sealing [MRC]
09/01/10 - Full wheel alignment
27/11/09 (66,278 miles) - Seized wiper linkage replaced [Hatfield Audi]
16/10/09 (66,123 miles) - MOT
12/09/09 (65,641 miles) - Spark plugs and fuel filter replaced as not in stock when serviced. Nearside front CV boot replaced, 2x front and 2x rear parking sensors replaced and painted [Hatfield Audi]
19/09/09 (64,919 miles) - Service, brake fluid change [Hatfield Audi]
?/07/09 - All wheels refurbished and TPMS sensors replaced [Max Powder Alloys in Hemel Hempstead]
13/11/08 (55,965 miles) - Gearbox failure identified and replaced (vibration and clonking into gear when cold). New thermostat and water pump also fitted. [Hatfield Audi]
22/10/08 (55,516 miles) - Service, o/s front cv boot replaced, indicator switch replaced [Hatfield Audi]
05/09/08 (54,712 miles) - Drivers door lock replaced as not latching correctly [Hatfield Audi]
20/08/08 (53,768 miles) - New front and rear disks and pads [Hatfield Audi]
28/08/08 (53,437 miles) - DRC replaced with H&R suspension [Fontain]
02/05/08 (52,182 miles) - Rear diff replaced due to intermittent locking and vibration. Secondary air pump replaced as noisy [Hatfield Audi]
Purchased 29/10/07 (47,843 miles) - Full service with cambelt change [Hatfield Audi]

The car was purchased from Hatfield Audi and has full proof of Audi service history prior to my purchase. It also has a Parrot bluetooth hands free kit fitted.

Mechanically the car has been fastidiously maintained with all recommendations dealt with whenever identified. The wheels were refurbished over summer 2009 by Max Powder alloys of Hemel Hempstead, and all TPMS sensors were changed at this time. One wheel could do with a refurb but the other 3 are in good condition. Rear tyres have >6mm tread, fronts have 4-5mm of tread.

There is a minor scratch on the front nearside wing and another in the rear nearside door, but other than that the bodywork is in good condition and polishes up to a great finish. The front end of the car has minor stone chips along the bonnet leading edge but is in much better condition than 76.5k miles would suggest. Pictures to follow, will link to the Pistonheads advert when submitted this weekend.

We will really miss the car but have a baby due very soon and are looking to get a more cost effective car so unfortunately the RS6 must go. We live in St Albans and can be contacted via the forum or on 07932 667710.

Please no advertising agencies.

Realistically priced at £12,250 for a quick sale.

Thanks, Ross

Thanks Steve, bit of a heart wrenching decision but financially it makes sense... At least that's what I keep telling myself!

I've just uploaded the Pistonheads ad here: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2277273.htm

Thanks all!

Forgot to mention, I have a click4warranty policy on the car which is fully transferrable and expires on 01/03/11. This helped cover some of the costs of work over the last year and has paid for itself already. Max claim limit of £7k, and also covers wear and tear items with a 10% excess on repair costs due to the mileage/age of the car.
