Dustless non OEM 993TT Brad Pads?

Post by s8n » Mon Feb 02, 2004 10:49 pm

Any downsides to going non porsche pads for my 993TT kit which gets installed in the coming few weeks??

I want a dustless pad because im sick of cleaning my darn wheels all the time... Something that doesnt comprimise performance.. I've heard Pagids are good??

I wont be doing track driving...

Interesting question. I don't think you can get dustless pads. The porsche setup on my car with OEM porsche pads makes far more dust than the standard brake setup. Stops a lot better though

I use OEM pads in my Porsche.
Pagid pads squeal like nothing else, and Pagid greens actually give more dust, just finer in my experience.

As for pagid reds, well, I find them too hard for casual road driving, but superb for track work (I swap them in before a track day and out again afterwards).

HTH.

Cheers,
John.

EBC Green Stuffs.

They are about £83 + VAT here in the UK.

I was offered them by www.porscheshop.co.uk whilst searching for replacement pads. I went for the OEM pads though as they were cheaper, and I have been pleased with their performance (but yes more dust than standard Audi brake pads)

You are fighting a tough battle there. S3's are heavy (all modern cars are) and you are looking at upgraded brakes which will stop better but create more dust as a result.

Dust is what pads end up as.

Have you tried Bushy's wheel wax

Do NOT put anything on brake pads/discs apart from water.

The wheel wax is a sort of high temp polish for wheels only. It does reduce dust a little because it cannot stick as easily to them.

i wouldn't even do that. Dust is something you've got to live with i'm afraid. My porsche ones are forever filthy..

BTW i had EBC greenstuffs on my grooved S3 discs and whilst they were relatively dust-less, the pads 'ATE' my discs (or was that my driving )
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.
