Front brake pads

I'm due some front brake pads, still got plenty of life left in the discs, (just starting to lip) what you guys running?

Philip Walker on here is doing some pagids for 89.95 i just grabbed a set as spares and may try them to see if they create less dust than std ones

i recently changed mine for the ebc yellowstuff pads, much less dust than standard - but at £170 delivered theyre a bit more expensive than the pagid pads.

I havent had the chance to give them a good run yet but the initial bite even when cold is good. For what i hear theyre even better with a bit of heat in them.

Started off on OEMs, then moved to EBC yellow stuff, they lasted around 6 months (4 track day session). As above I was impressed by the yellow stuff, however they are cheaply put together, i.e wear pad came loose and flash moulding flash tends to make it a tight fit (in some cases not fitting) however a whole set front and rear for around £210 is worth it.

I will be going over to DS2500s next month, these do not have wear sensors (£266 for fronts only).

I've just had Mintex pads and Genuine Disks put on at the front on Friday... BUT after 130miles they are squeaking when braking to halt at low speed!! Why do the squeak already?

I think i should have gone for the EBC yellow or even Pagid ones... Mintex FAIL!

Get some heat generated in them that should sort them out i.e. some aggressive stops

Ok you asked for it, this is the Audi bedding in process.

All vehicles with new break discs and /or brake pads must wear in the brakes in order to achieve optimum friction coefficients in later operation and the best possible braking effect, as well as to prevent permanent damage to brake components.

Wearing in the friction surfaces
. Select a suitable route for performing the routine for wearing in the brakes.
.Brake vehicle 50 times from 100km/h to 20 km/h.
.Always allow the brakes to cool off between decelerations by driving for one minute at 80km/h
.The braking manoeuvres must be made at a light deceleration that approximates braking comfortably when stopping at a red light.

Achieving temperature-stable friction coefficients.

To obtain optimal friction coefficients, new brake pads must be allowed to emit gas in a controlled process.
. Follow the 50 comfortable brake applications with five consecutive full brake applications. However, avoid braking here in the ABS control range.
.During these full brake applications, the friction surface fading temperatures must be reached. For this purpose, apply the brakes fully to bring the vehicle from 100km/h to a standstill, accelerate again at full engine power to 100km/h and perform a full brake application again.
.After these five rapid, consecutive full brake applications, the brake pads are so hot that the binding materials can emit gas.
.On no account should you park the vehicle in this state. Instead, go directly to the next step, “brake cleaningâ€

That's what is proved by Audi (with the 50 boxes ticked) when you get pads changed, it will be singed and stamped. This is what they provided when I had mine done any way as proof that the breaks was bedding in (its not a requirment). Great Germglish translation lol
