Morpheous Radar Repair
Morpheous Radar Repair
A couple of months ago I telephoned Morpeous to ask them if they could repair the radar horn for the Geodesy which was damaged as some chump cut the cable removing it from my S4.
Morpheous agreed to send it back to Beltronics in Canada. Beltronics kindly exchanged the unit for a brand new one free of charge. Great I thought until I got a £100 bill for the freight charges. I also needed a new Radar cradle too for which Morpheous took the opportunity to charge me a further £50.
I thought that the postage was a bit excessive and to charge £50 for a bit of plastic was not what I'd call generous. OK fine I got a replacement for half price but given that the most expensive unit was replaced free of charge I thought it was a bit penny pinching to say the least.
So when it comes around to replacing my radar setup I'll certainly not be going to Morpheous-the-moneygrabbers.

Thats why ive just traded my Geodessy and Bel 550 against a Origin b2.

And i also think the technology is old now

Yeah John, Origin is the one I'd go for. Just too many false alarms with Morpheous - they don't purge and upgrade their database often enough.
I'll have to read up on the specs but what about Radar detection - does the Origin allow an upgrade for this feature?

mmmm, time to upgrade methinks!
Re: Morpheous Radar Repair
JR - I have downloaded the Origin B2 manual from their website and I notice that Radar detection is an optional extra at £99. The radar horn (I suppose) is mounted behind the front bumper.
Have you got this option and can you remember what the commection to the Origin B2 unit looks like - is it a standard DIN connecteor to fit a Beltronics radar horn. If so I was thinking that I'd be able to using the Radar horn which came with the Geodesy unit.
Just a thought.
Reading the manual the Origin B2 is infinitely superior to what I have the moment.

Re: Morpheous Radar Repair
Not my experience. I had occasion to drive the section of the M25, J26 on two consecutive weekends. On the first time, roadworks were in place, with several Gatsos installed. Each one was identified by my RoadPilot. By the next weekend, the roadworks had been completed and all the Gatsos removed. The RoadPilot database had had all the camera locations removed.... with Morpheous - they don't purge and upgrade their database often enough.

Yep, I use a RoadPilot too and find it superb.

mmm interesting - a faxed Gatso in Bletchley was removed months ago and is still showing in their database a being live.
After your comments I am now starting to wonder of the database modem is updating the unit properly
