Which Remap and Milltek exhaust to have

Post by luffenham1 » Tue Nov 09, 2010 3:05 pm

Hi everyone!.

I have decided to fit an milltek exhaust to my RS4 56 plate Avant but are unsure on whether to have resonated or non res type. The only thing i do know is that i want valves on the exhaust. And do you need the cats straight away or can i buy them at a later date?.

Once fitted i am after a remap. Their are loads of companies out there from MRC to superchip. Does anyone have any views on which remap is the best or will work better with the exhaust. I am mainly after the power and torque gains from 2k rpm to 3.5rpm where is seems to lack real go.

Thanks

I can't comment on the other questions, but valved non res is the way to go from the feedback by milltek owners.

Resonated is too close to the OEM exhaust in sport mode. Whereas non res is an animal in sport mode but relatively discrete with sport off.

I couldn't tell you I know I was slightly exspensive but I was the first stage 3 map they done on the b7 due to my car having a supercharger! IMO there's no one better at doing what they do! Viper has a good rep guys based in the isle of man but does sessions all over Britain

Forgot to mention the decat downpipes! A must-have.

Best to give Doug a shout re price - mine was done a while back now in amongst other work (inlet manifold cleaning).

I was quoted approx £800 for the MRC remap IIRC. I'm sure Doug will be along to confirm.

Not sure about how much do you think to gain with just catback and remap...I think you'll be around 380 bhp, maybe 390...
If you want some real gain you should think about sports cat or decat.

About valved exhaust, they fail pretty often, especially in poor weather conditions.

Stage2 remap is £650, plus dyno time.

Whoa - thats the first I've heard about this. I was looking at a valved option but would like it to be reliable. Whats the failure? Stuck valves?

The left hand actuator tube (crimped) can slide off making the flaps stick in the open position, would not say this is due to weather.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
