Re: Has anyone been refused a free MOT at a Dealer with FASH
I got a free MOT from Portsmouth Audi on my RS4 in July, and I don't even have FASH!tom2009uk wrote:Hi,
Took my car for MOT yesterday and filled on the online form and took it with me but Audi dealer would not accept and they are adament it only applies to 2.0litre cars or under,
I know this has to be wrong as it doesnt matter what size engine you have, an MOT is the same regardless.
This isnt the best advertising I have seen, reward the customers spending 20k and not the ones spending 50k.

oh yes.... here I go
with Glasgow Audi being the main dealer with satilite dealerships in Ayr, Edinburgh, Stirling and wherever else I received a letter a few years ago ( I'll scan and post it here at the weekend) inviting me to join a FREE MOT for life ( or the time I own the carS)
.....HHMMMMM I thought so I joined and duly took the B5 RS4 for its MOT.... passed
and also the S4 cabrio and passed no worries.... fast forward a few years, dealer mentioned during the conversation to book the RS4 in this year " has it been serviced this year yet?" yep..... who by? Deutche Tech ( in Ayr, basically an ex Audi m aster tech who used to work for this dealer group then started up on his own). Dealer said has it been serviced at AN AUDI dealer> no right then the MOT isnt free then
I said REALLY
we'll see who has the last laugh when I come in......
( soon after I joined this " Club Class" free Mot I recieved an updated letter from Glasgow Audi stating " you do NOT need to now have had a service PRIOR to your MOT test...... now to me that says FREE TEST AS LONG AS I OWNED THE VEHICLE)
so I took both letters with me and showed the service manager these letters and instantly changed a shade or 2 or red
guess what
I failed
so I phoned ex master tech at Deutche tech and told him the story above, " bring it straight here"... so I did...
Audi said the rear subframe bushes where perished didnt even comment on the fronts which where in the same condition.
rear discs corroded
1 rear tyre advisory ( fair comment)
rear caliper sticking, need new caliper
on inspection by Jase He said
a) yes the rubber bushes are split BUT NOT causing excessive play of movement so shouldnt have failed, in fact they never can fail because it has a bloody great bolt holding it all together
didnt even mention the fronts !!
b) yes you have A BIT of corrosion on your discs but with the latest rulkes you can have a bit of corrosion but yours SHOULDNT have failed
c) advisory tyre.... well thats correct!
so I had Jase have skimmed the rear discs for 40 quid for the pair, while this was going on he would strip down my calipers and clean and put in new seals etc... NO need to replace caliper and the tyre was changed as well.
so in hindsight because I got one over on the dealer, Jase who is pretty well qualified in his field said they blatantly failed you Rich!!
Then to add to the soup, when I took the cabrio in, it failed ONLY because the drivers side headlight beam was still set up to left hand drive from last years trip to Spain ... THEN had the ordacity to tell me it would take an hour or so to adjust on diagnostics...
REALLY... BOLLOCKS!!! SO how come it took the Audi dealer across the road to adjust it in about 2 minutes then??????
they where adamant it couldnt have been done in 2 minutes because its on diagnostics and the " techy" didnt know where to look for the light module from right to left hand drive set up
thats because its a small silver lever on the lamp side you prick!!( I actually said that to him). I even phoned the other dealer and asked for the guy to pop over and show these clowns what to do because this car AINT LEAVING THIS DEALERSHIP as a failure....5 mins later 3 techies where standing in front of the car with a blown up diagram from ETKA
GREAT IDEA I SAID through the MOT observation window
a few mins later an angry tech appeared with a pass certificate for the car and wanted an hour labour rate charge even though they hadent even spent an hour looking at the light unit, so I suggested he get the director here now as we're gonna have a wee chat......
needless to say I didnt pay a penny and the techs got a roasting
IF my fiance had taken the car in for its test She wouldnt have known and would have been hit with a 120 odd quid bill.
so is it any wonder these cars dont ever see our local dealerships but go to Unit 20 in Chester instead
so back to square one... the free MOT isnt for 2.0 and less because ours is a 2.7 and a 4.2... Oh I dont take the WR along there
so watch you dealer in case they try and pull the wool over your eyes
