Interesting, I'll check the viewing angle out....
Steve, was your rear lens TÜV approved? This is kind of a common problem with aftermarket LED lens kits, bit dangerous IMO. It sounds like the rear lens design is decreasing the LED intensity when viewing from obtuse angles. I think this was advantageous with forward facing DRLs, for which some of these rear LED lens kits have been copied from the early forward facing DRL designs.

You can often see DRLs appear to not work from certain angles in video, very common.

its not your ABS ECU I can tell you that much. I had a similar problem which ended up being a brake light switch (£9) as opposed to an ABS ECU which is £1,400... its the difference in the time between your pedal and light communication causing an intemittant fault...

Surely the only angle that is important is directly from behind so cars following are aware that a) you are braking, and b) that you can be seen at night. Looks like these lights do both, do I can't see the problem, but then I would say that having just bought some! :?

Errrrm, no!!!

Crossing a roundabout I'd like to know if you're braking BEFORE I got directly behind you!!!
OR
Following you around a hairpin (or even a 90 degree), I'd like to know if you're on the brakes!!!
OR
Following you down a hill into a dip, if you broke hard at the dip the angle would be obtuse to the following driver.
OR
If cornering and you're near-side rear cluster is obscured by road-side street furniture etc and your off-side rear cluster is therefore at an obtuse angle

In most cases the uni-directional rear LED lens will splash the surrounding environment with residual light (walls, road, other cars etc). But I wouldn't trust that... "on a long enough timeline, everyone's chances are reduced to zero".
With a standard filament style lens the light is omni-directional and dispersed from the source, so this issue is vastly reduced.
Get my point?

Yep, get your point but devil's advocate, surely you would brake before you enter a corner, so no lights required and certainly long before the apex when the angle is most obtuse. On a dip, that would have to be a serious incline and climb to cause that much of an angle. Can't argue with you on the roundabout example though, except roundabout mechanics would indicate I would be slowing before crossing your nose and so in most cases observation would alert you to the hazzard.

BUT...I am the first to admit I have not seen the LED lights from an angle and am only going on the photos posted here.

Can one of you fellas post a pic or two from different angles, day and night, brakes on and off so we can get an idea of whether Bam is very wise and I'm an argumentative c..k who'se just pissed €220 up the wall?

So following this discussion I did a left to right walk behind the car and I could see them fine....

DK followed me and he never said he could not see them, plus I could certainly see his....
