Broken Glove Compartment

Post by ShaneyB » Mon Oct 25, 2010 11:59 am

Hi all,
Closed my glove compartment door just now but now can't re-open it. The lever pulls but it doesn't actually 'catch' anything - there's no resistance there at all. Spoken to my local independant and they quoted me £185.00 for a new door

Any thoughts on the way forward or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

Cheers
Shane

Pull off the side panel of the dash and see if you can release it from behind

Hi Xyber,
Yeah have tried that but I can't get anywhere the actual lock from the passenger door side panel.

If you pull off the side panel you should see the catch holding the glovebox shut. If you push this in it will also pull in the one at the other end and allow the glovebox to open.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys,
In but can't determine if the problem is with the lock as it's a sealed unit?

The lock broke off on my previous S4 and Fontain were able to repair / replace for reasonable money.
Which independent do you use?
