If it was stolen or taken by deception why are the police not seizing the vehicle and arresting the "owners"! Why is it a civil matter and not criminal?

Is he pretending he didn't know the X5 was cloned?

Awful situation to be in ace.

three men bailed, but the police said, quote,,,, "we need these guys to admit that they knew the x5 was stolen" what a load of rubbish, The thiefs told me they had put 40,000 miles on the car, The police proved they'd had it ""3"" days. I've saved all the texts that the thieves sent me proving they were lying but still they did nothing, basically the police were worse than useless, now its down to me to sort it .....I must say guys I only came back on to warn you all that this is still going on and didn't want you getting ripped off by these guys, If you went to view the car I guarantee it would NOT be at a legit address, thanks for your comments on this cheers all ..

Just thought I'd ask whether there were any updates on this ace?

It seems that the car is now with a dealer and up for sale here

Surely if you eventually proved your case, then regardless of how many times it's changed hands, it would come back to you? I can't understand why it's still changing hands whilst there is an investigation in progress? Surely the police ought to seize the car in the meantime until a resolution is reached?

Are people still talking about this? lo. This case was sorted out years ago!!!
i have owned the car 12 months myself and its awesome :)
The car was originally taken wrongly yes but thats not the cars fault is it!
i beleive the problem was with the X5 that it was part exchanged against.

you might think its sorted out but im in the process of meeting with a civil case solicitor (instructed to do so by police) i,m glad you find the car awesome cos if there is still a claim to be made you might just find the car being returned to its rightful owner.

Im suprised its stil going on! i do hope you get something back from it, but i cant see the car been taken from me and returned to you. compensiation is more likely in this case.
I spoke with the Police before i bought the car to be sure i wouldnt end up in trouble myself or get the car taken off me. They told me there was no police interest in the car whatsoever.
i have also been stopped by the poice in the car once a few months back and nothing there was ever mentioned. If there was stil police involvement with the car surely they would have said something to me or seized the car?

I also spoke to you when i was buying the car, and you told me everything was sorted out and you were done with it?
i hope you get your money back in the end of it however long it takes

I would have thought that you would only have to return the car if it was proved that the seller didn't have legal title to transfer to you. Why have the police washed their hands of it?

Just finished on the phone with a young lady at west yorkshire police.
She just checked the car against the police national database. She informed me there was still no poilice involvement or poice interest in the car and if there was i would have been informed about it by now especially as it was from so long ago.

Hi Steve firstly, please don't think that anything i say is directed personally at you, I have instructed a law firm from london to go ahead with a civil case regarding this matter, where that case leads to and to whom it leads too is yet to be decided, please be aware i'm in possesion of a letter instructing this car must not be sold or altered pending this case, to which the scum from Bradford has chosen to ignore. I don't know yet what the outcome is going to be but rest assured i am going to do everything in my power to ensure that i get something back from this, seeing what I still regard as MY car being sold on,, yet again is like rubbing salt into very deep wounds, all i am prepared to say at this time is watch this space.......

I know you are not directing it personally at me. I understand what your saying yeah, i too would be massivly pissed off to say the least!
But like i said, i asked you about the car before i bought it and you said "go ahead and buy it, im done with it"
Im confussed as now your still trying to get the matter resolved. If you have a letter to say the car cannot be sold on why wasnt the car siezed by police in the 1st place and why didnt you mention it when i asked you about buying it?
The dealer wasn't trying to hide the car in any way it was clearly up for sale on the internet all the poilice had to do was knock on there door and take it.
I feel like im been made out to be in the wrong for some reason, i really couldnt have done more background checks on the car before i bought it.
i spoke to 2 previous owners i spoke to the police about it what more could i have done?

ok let me say to anybody reading this that Steve is totally innocent in all of this, but SO am i, has to why the police are, and never really had anything to do with this is a question i have been asked thousands of times and one i still cannot answer. I thought i had mentioned the letter but i was asked by quite a few people about the car at that time even from a guy in scotland. I was done with it Steve cos it was dragging me down, but after seeing it for sale yet again ive decided to hell with it, like you ,i don't deserve to be ripped off and I now intend to (if i can) get some kind of compo, when the car was sold on to the dealer i called the guy who stole this car from me who then threatened to kill myself and my family again police did nothing. Please understand Steve that I now have to be careful what i say because of the hopefully "pending" case. All the best to you Steve you are in no way at fault, regards to you. Ace...
