ISOFIX or not?

Post by ChrisRS6 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 3:25 pm

Hopefully this is a quick question… my friends are coming to visit this weekend and are brining their baby. We were planning on all going out in the RS6 (because we can all fit in the one car… and it’s awesome  ), but they’ve asked me if it has ISOFIX points for their child seat?

No idea if I have ISOFIX or not! Were all RS6’s the same, or was ISOFIX an optional extra?

I’ve got a C5 RS6.

Was extra. If you feel in the "crack" between the rear seat squab and backrest if there are two equally spaced smooth shaped metal brackets where the outer two rear seats are, then you've got it.

Mine does not.

I use a Recaro child seat belted in which is very secure, although I admit Isofix is better.

To my knowledge it can be retro-fitted.

Thanks for the advice drybeer.

I don't think I'll go to the effort of getting it retro-fitted just for my mate's kid this weekend, but I'll have a grope around in my crack this evening to see what I can find

I had two fitted, most baby seats can be connected to a belt but I found the ones`in the '6 a tad too short.

A bit of a grope later and I've found I have the fixings. So we get to use the 6 instead of my mate's Nissan Quasquai (or whatever it's called - hateful thing)!

42-55 sounds a reasonable price for a dealer fit. i read somewhere the parts are about 18 quid.

I just installed ISOFIX into our 6, cost was £47 for the brackets and around £3 for the bolts so £50 per side. That was from Hatfield Audi, so looks like part prices have gone up slightly. Took 5 mins to bolt it all in, very simple job - if you can hold a screwdriver without hurting yourself you should be ok :P

Sorry just to be clear, that's £47 per bracket so x2 if you want both rear sides.
