Actually Hmmmmmm I was wondering that? That's a very valid point, does anyone know? Is yours an avant?vintron wrote:Non Res is the only way to go. I don't know If the Saloon is insulated differently from the Avant
Miltek Res or Non-Res??
No, Its a saloon. Unfortunately no Avant's ever made it over here to the US. My next step is to go Cat less with downpipes like you did. I definitely like the way yours sounds..........................
03 RS6 Saloon. Full Catless Milltek (Roars). ViperTune ECU. MTM(soon to be Viper) TCU. H&R Coilovers. Hotchkiss ARB's. 19X10" Wheels with 275-30-19" Rubber at each corner. V1 Radar Locator.

Well said that manvintron wrote:Non Res is the only way to go. I don't know If the Saloon is insulated differently from the Avant, but I can barely hear mine until I reach 80mph. At which point it just starts to sound sweet. Step on it, and it Roars. I get absolutely no drone below 80mph. And at speeds above 80mph you won't be worried about drone, you will be concentrating on the road I hope. I know I would have been disappointed had I bought the Resonated version. Remember these are RS6's, Super cars to be seen and definitely heard.........................

I owned a saloon with a resonated Milltek for 3 years.
There were times when I didn't want to play the hooligan just sit back
and listen to music, cruise control on and enjoy the 'other' side of the RS6 -
it's comfort and refinement. At legal motorway speeds the exhaust could
hardly be heard and was not intrusive whatsoever.Any noisier however
and it would have become tiresome IMO.

Exactly! Which is why I don't understand why people bang on about replacing the back half of the system without sorting the front part out first/as well!!its not the hp gains from the milltek, its the gains you get in turbo spool over a standard car. fully decatted with 3" Dp's and you notice it.....
What's more, to really capitalise on the liberated turbo, you need a good remap tuned to your car.
That way you get performance - not just boy-racer noise!

I'm around next week if you want to hear mine? I'm only 30min away. PM me.Ceveman73 wrote:I've decided to go for the Non-Res and if it's too loud, I can always buy a Res centre separately. Which works out about 150 quid more than the Res system would have been in the first place. I plan to do catless DPs too anyway, so that will remove any boominess hopefully.
Cheers,
Mart.

He's still driving my old B5 - it was an ace motor. I would have it back again if it had the space and auto box of the C5.\
In his photos it looks great.
