Hi - my first post here but had my RS4 for 5 months now. I've done about 2000 miles and put about 1 litre of oil to keep it topped up. Today I've also had to fill up the power steering fluid (was on minimum and groaning like mad) and the coolant which was below minimum. Its definately a car you need to keep an eye on fluid wise...but I do love it.

I reckon I use about a litre every 5K, which seems less than average judging from on here. The PS fluid was topped up a few weeks ago - that's the only time it's been done unless the garage has done it without telling me.
I've never topped up the coolant although it was done at the last service.

But I drive like a girl ...

My car gets driven fairly hard, but I only put in 1 litre in the last 8k miles. Car has done 28k.

My previous B7 I had from new and used a litre every 1k!

I think the service manual says 0.5 litres every 1000km is acceptable. That's crazy! My "blown up" motor only used about 1 litre in 5000km.

It appears to vary. My car has 40,000 miles on it now and I’ve done 12,000 of those. You can drive it hard, and check the oil, its up to the mark; drive it steady its up to the mark and then check it again to find it needs a top-up. Six weeks pass and it doesn’t need any more, and then in the space of a fortnight it needs two top ups. Top ups being perhaps, 250 mils, occasionally 500 mils, in my case. Check regularly, once a week, and after a long journey.

Thats reassuring, I was worried as I have just had to top up after 2500 miles since I last topped up a litre....

60,000 miles driven and I usually top up with a litre every 2.5-3k miles.
