Miltek Res or Non-Res??

Post by Ceveman73 » Thu Oct 21, 2010 9:57 am

After a disasterous experience with the Blueflame exhaust, I've decided to stump for a Miltek. The big question is, do I go for a Res or Non-Res?

I want to release some of the grumble from the RS6, but I don't want it to be boomy or intrusive on the motorway. Apart from not fitting correctly, I rejected the Blueflame system because it sounded no different to stock. I want the system to be louder and deeper, just not boomy.

What are people's experiences of both and which should I go for?

Cheers,

Mart.

What's it like on the motorway at the dreaded 2-3k revs? Is it boomy or droney? I've heard people say that it is?

Cheers,

I had non-res and changed to res as it was too loud stuck in traffic.... However I think it is a different matter if you de-cat like Amanda or fit 100cpi downpipes....

Thanks for the feedback. Could anyone elaborate on their praise for the Non-Res and comment on the sound, the volume inside and out and any negatives at all? How much louder is it than the Res?

I'd like to release some of the V8 sound, but don't exhausts that are too loud just make you look a bit boy-racerish? How does the sound and noise level fit on the 'boy racer' scale? :D Is it quiet enough not to make you look like a prat?

Cheers,

Mart.

I am very happy with noise inside and out with Res fitted.

I was very happy with noise out with not res, but not so inside. Gave me a headache stuck in average sped zone, most of the south east these days!

So it must be blummin loud without the Res then to give you a headache? I had a 3" system on my Ralliart VR4 auto, and the boom at 2.5k revs was horrible. Non-Res must be pretty loud then!?

I think it resonates differently if you have DP as well, not just CAT back. If I did not use it every day, then it would have been a different matter. It's not much quieter outside but plenty inside

The difference between a res and non res...... non res makes the car sound like it should. De-cat and it sounds like what you always dreamed a V8 would.
Its horses for courses of course. But only girls go for res.......
It's all Bollox.

Personally I look at this completely the other way round.

If I were doing exhaust mods I would start with the downpipes/cats (depending on how "street legal" you want to stay) so as to release the power and get better turbo spool up. The I'd ask myself how can I keep the machine suitably quiet, whilst letting the energy out of the system - and I'd almost certainly go with a res system.

Result would be max power, and continued stealth - just what the Beast should be about - not some snarling boy racer Saxo!!

Just my penneth

Dave

I think you need to hear/feel both the res and non res cat/cat full system whatever before you make a choice.

I agree it can be a bit (boomy) at times, but that's not a problem pull the paddle drop a cog your back to BLISS

Where are you located, I'm sure one of the guys/dolls would be more than happy give you a demo.

Look up mooch's RS6 on youtube should give you some idea or a stiffy
