I shouldn't laugh, but it sounds like they don't trust a woman to drive an RS6!!

Bit sexist that ain't it?

I'm with Privilage on a multi car discount, 12 yrs no claims, 39, South London, tarcker fitted, PSS9s (this had to be checked out specially, a few companies wouldn't touch the suspension mods) I got referred to the customer retention dept as I've been with them for a few years and got it to about £650 inc legal cover.

I'm with swiftcover, as they quoted me £480 and the nearest alternative was £800.
But they won't cover mod'd cars and i fancy a remap soon, so will be shopping around next time.
I'm 44, lincoln, 13 yrs no claims, 3 points (no points at next renwal....hopefully..!!)

31yrs, kept off-road overnight, 10+yrs protected NCB, Bristol postcode, fully comp for myself and my wife as named driver. That was through Admiral, but I will shop around when it's renewal time.

One thought I've just had - should I declare that my RS6 is 'non-standard' as it has H&Rs fitted?
anything non standard must be declared or they can turn down a claim , they know about my h&r's , arb's , and mili
doesnt appear to be a problem if it is not a performance mod

For fellow whippersnappers, it's a bit of a nightmare getting insured on an RS6. I'm 25, and was told by a few companies that they wouldn't cover anyone under 30 on the car!

In the end I was paying about £1,300 fully comp with Admiral (with 3 years NCD). When I had the PSS9s and Miltek fitted I had to switch to Adrian Flux, who were actually about £100 cheaper on a modded car.

The bonkers thing is I also have a 6.0 V12 Jag which only cost me £180 to insure, fully comp, £250 excess, unlimited miles etc. I guess it's a bit less likely to be driven like a rental, but it's still kicking out a nudge under 340bhp...

The lesson? There's no logic to car insurance, and they can pluck whatever number they see fit out of the air.

I'm with admiral, and the Milltek and suspension mods only impacted my insurance by £50odd quid, and I'm 26 ... So I concur with your conclusion

Ps. I was with adrian flux once, until I tried to claim, biggest bunch of wasters ever ...

I just went through Sky Insurance as they are a site sponsor for another forum I use.

Excellent service, reassuring conversation with a girl who appreciated the cars and experience rather than just taking down a few details before reaming me dry, and found the whole things much better than the other quotes i had been getting - all over £1000 for the RS4.

Spanner, recognised your avatar as the chap who had a really low quote from the last thread! Very jammy :) I settled with 840 inc mods due to a high risk overnight postcode.

Sky insurance quoted me £700 with all mods and repalcement like for like in the event of an accident, where most others will just cover the car, they will cover the cost of repalcing the milltek, brakes etc. Was very good. 3 yrs no claims, living in Cornwall, with convictions me and wife.

It went before renewal, but..... as an excercise, i got a quote from swift for a "standard"car £325.00 per year. £1000 excess everything included, legal, courtesy car etc. was very good.
So good in fact the the AMoco Cadiz is now insured with them. Guess how much?

£127.00 per year
