Ken,

I had a boxster service light put out the other day and they used Durametric software. The expensive Smap-on diag machine from the tuning house next door could not get into it, but the Durametric stuff worked without issue, like VAGCOM.

Also can I buy your numberplate yet?

Cheers,

VCDS works on Porsches in Generic OBD2 mode only, like PetrolDave said ;) So if it's an airbag light or something other than engine/emissions related faults, VCDS won't be much help and only a PIWIS/Durametric will read/clear codes.

Yeah like your plate!!

Oh by the way my car is a factory produced Gemballa (stage 2)

So are you saying in "generic" mode it will not reset engine management light coming on because of a lamda, O2 sensor type fault?

Some of the £50 specials will supposedly do that

Nice and rare car you got yourself there kc ;)

Generic OBD2 mode will clear all CEL's, however it won't solve the problem that triggered the CEL in the first place ;) but it will read the codes and clear them, yes ;)

I have got a quick question regarding this Porsche connection.

I have just bought a Targa 911/996 and was hoping to get it scanned. I have not got the car until the weekend so can't have a look at the connection.

Will my VAGCOM scan the car or do I need and adaptor like some of the ones I have seen on Ebay, 16 pin to 19 pin. I'm not fussed about clearing faults if there are any, just want to see what is stored at the moment.
Garage;
Audi S4 V8 2003.
Porsche 911 Targa 3.6 2001.
ZXR400.
