thinking i need more BHP , met a chrysler V8 SRT in Europe
Traveling in Europe, moving at 80 or so, straight line, open road, i was in the slow lane, saw a neon light and big metal grill, hit the right pedal as nothing ahead, evidently the chrysler had the jump on me already moving at pace. however i tailed him from a reasonable distance and i have to say the SRT motor could perform. Ugly as muck but from 80 to 120 there was little in it. Anyone else met this machine before.....? evidently the bhp race has moved on from the rs6 c5 days..
My rs6 felt faster, as the gap continually closed done but at a very slow rate... evidently he was local and me a johnny foreigner and being a little tame, mind you i was sat in drive rather than sport but i doubt that would have much of an effect.

currently running as standard. i was taken aback to be honest, just done some digging on the SRT, seems to be carrying 250kg less as well at around 1850kg, so a relatively light model at that compared to the C5.

You'd have killed him with a map.
Standard...... pretty evenly matched, the 6 would do him eventually but not by much.
However, run a 500+ 600ftlb map and Ciao SRT...... Oh, sorry, he's already gone.....

The RS6 is around 1860kg.LondonRS6 wrote:currently running as standard. i was taken aback to be honest, just done some digging on the SRT, seems to be carrying 250kg less as well at around 1850kg, so a relatively light model at that compared to the C5.
4th gear on a standard car isn't up to much as it is a disproportionately longer gear than the first 3 gears. A remap fixes that completely.
It's like a new wave of torque, it feels very fast.
RE: Re: RE: thinking i need more BHP , met a chrysler V8 SRT
There are quite a few SRTs in Dubai; the 300, Challenger and even Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT which is a nasty piece of work buy an awesome sound. Plenty of grunt and they can go OK in a straight line but not too good on corners. I pull away from them in mine with a MTM remap but it is not that convincing as say a Nissan GTR pulling away from me.....which is night and day.
There are also plenty of Mustangs here and they are not very fast but I came across a Shelby Mustang and that is quicker but doesn't handle well.

Funnily enough, the same thing happened to me the other day. My car is completely standard (well, other than the wagners) and in a straight drag, I was only barely pulling away from it. They are pretty powerful, but you'd kill him on twisty stuff. I think they're running about 420hp but without the losses in the transmission that we have.
Being in D makes no difference if you've mashed the pedal to the floor. The car knows what you want when you do that

I drove a V8 hemi 300c and tbh it was bloody awful, interior built from recycled vending machine cups, suspension straight of ben hur's chariot and brakes about as effective as holding your hand out the window and relying on the air to stop you.
powerful the SRT may be but its American and by default an utter bag of <beep> lol.

I weighed mine recently on a puplic weighbridge and it was 1940kg with 1/4 tank of fuel.Rupert wrote:The RS6 is around 1860kg.LondonRS6 wrote:currently running as standard. i was taken aback to be honest, just done some digging on the SRT, seems to be carrying 250kg less as well at around 1850kg, so a relatively light model at that compared to the C5.

In fact I nearly passed out as it said 2025kg, but when I got home and weighed myself plus my work tools and various other odds and sods, the figure left was 1940kg - as per the manual for my car, so it was correct.
