How hot are the police on speeding in Holland ?

They transmit the speed camera locations every day on TMC (unfortunately the RNS-E doesn't display them and neither does MMI 3G, only MMI 2G) so they expect you to know the locations and drive accordingly...

Very hot on it apparently and now have links with dvla database making prosecution easy,unlike days of old when an english plate was too much hassle

Didn't have any issues in Holland when I was there a few months ago but wasn't tanking it anyway but then wasn't always honourable.....

They're <beep> hot on lane discipline - they close off outside lanes on motorways during off peak. Seems strange to sit in middle lane in traffic with an empty lane outside. Whole thing monitored by lots of cameras. Mind, the Dutch lane discipline is far better than in the uk so overtaking not a problem.

The theory is good but in Friday afternoon rush hour near Imuijen their lane discipline is shocking! Alost as bad as being on the M25!

They are everywhere, even hide them in bins and salt drums at the side of the roads, so be careful.

I've heard of a few people getting done for 10% over the limit...generally when your a bit lost and looking for an exit - take it easy and save speed for an Autobahn if you can dip into Germany.

They do that in Sweden also - I did 28hrs on a ferry once and I was a little worse for wear when we drove off at the other end.

The Mrs' sister and her family live near Dusseldorf, so we have done the Hull Rotterdam ferry, traverse Holland, and boot it down the Autobahn a fair few times.

My observations are:-
1. Yes there are often breath tests on exiting the ferry, both UK and Dutch sides - and it is surprising how many people are pulled!!
2. Not worth the aggro of speeding in holland. The police can be stroppy, and can seize your car, as well as being pretty sneaky in relation to their camera / laser gun positions.
3. RS4 + Autobahn = poor mpg!

Your 100% correct about breathalyse testing last time i came over they were doing every other car it was painfully slow getting off the ferry.

I'm going on a 'mini' Euro trip to Tuscany (via a Pass or two ) on Friday - won't be travelling through Holland tho' & may avoid some of the French toll roads...
