WTF?

That's just insane - and when you look at the safety features which placed your ankles forward of the front axle - that certainly would sharpen your ability not to drive into anything by mistake!

No - JM drove the N24 race car (called Rose in that car's case) from the 2007 (IIRC) Nurburgring N24 race. Not a road car - they do now sell a version called the N24 as their competitor to the 911 GT3.

That's why he was dressed to stay cool (no a/c) - and hated it (race seats, belts (would chafe a bit... think about that one...) suspension, brakes, and if you remember the "being stuck on the ferry" scene - race car fuel shut off...

In point of fact you can, so long as you were racing a road REGISTERED car. This year's N24 featured a road reg'd Porsche 911 GT3RSR raced by (amongst others) Chris Harris. These are likely to be FIAGT4 class

The yellow "Rose" in the TG episode was such a car, but a different showroom N24 edition was available to buy.

The Gulf liveried car in the photos here was a DBR9s - this would be GT1 class and highly unlikely to be road reg'd.

I read about that road registered GT3RSR in EVO, they even made a point of driving it from the factory to the event, clocking up some quick Autobahn miles and risking a non-starting crash.

How about this? A road reg'd 917K (only 750bhp per ton) owned by Count Rossi (of Matrini racing).

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, looks comfy!

It won a few awards at Summernats 23 (including original paint?!?!). I wish I could find a few more pics of it from a lower angle and the hood down.
