I hope the 2 x 100,000 mile + cars that have surfaced this week in seemingly good order put peoples minds at rest.
If you think we have it bad, I wonder what it's like on Porsche forums with all the engine failures and rear main seal leak problems

High mileage, frequently used, driven hard cars maybe fare better. It would also be interesting to hear if they have suffered DRC failures. This is from another forumneckarsulm wrote:I hope the 2 x 100,000 mile + cars that have surfaced this week in seemingly good order put peoples minds at rest.
"Carbon build-up"
Dear Friends,
as promised, i would like to say a word or two concerning „Carbon build-up“:
What is “Carbon build-upâ€
I love my RS4 b7,:kissmyrings: otherwise I wouldn´t have waited over 12 months to get a fix. I already made the mistake of selling my RS2, so letting 1 marvel slip through my fingers was enough! EVERY car out there has issues, some large some small. As the man said, if it´s that bad sell it and move on.

I've just put a depoist down on a RS4 that my local dealer has in . Popped on here and now feel depressed with all the problems ive read about. I actually went to look at a used 3.0 S4 but i've always fancied an RS4 and they had this one sitting in front of the dealership http://usedcars.audi.co.uk/carview.aspx?id=601017102#
The dealer did say there was a slight problem with the car that was due to poor fuel but it would be sorted on my colection. I coundn't detect anything wrong with the performance. The car has just been serviced with new pads and 4 new tyres.
The only problem with the interior was rubbing on the drivers seat which im hoping i can get sorted.
I'm using a disco 4 for work and the rs4 was for my wife to use in the week as her A2 is too small for our growing family. I plan to have the occasional hoon on the weekends.
So is there anything I should be asking the dealer before i collect ? Will the audi used warranty cover me if the worst happens?
P.S They had just got in a new RS5 in red and tbh it didnt look anywhere near as nice to the rs4. The rear seats are a joke too!
Regards

Ask them to check the DRC(suspension) system +
you could ask them to check for any carbon build-up especially since they have told you of a problem because of fuel.
Seat bolsters, you know about.
I would ask them to check that oil cooler is not leaking, and the pipes are not chaffed.
Check the air box flap function & the solenoid.Very important
Finally, there was a TPI about a clutch pipe modification - ask them to check this has been done. Warranty issue
You have new pads, so they will have checked the discs are OK.
You have new tyres
You have a one year warranty.
You'll be fine, but you may as well make sure all the main known items are sorted if they need to be so you get to enjoy the car from Day 1.

You are about to get a superb bit of kit, most of what you read on here is small stuff and when it is big Audi step up and do their part more than any others I have dealt with.
So enjoy, only word of warning I have; it will cost you another car to get the RS back from your wife, at least it did for me!!!

You like your Atom Mike ? I had one for a year and still miss it dearly. Wife is not too keen on me having another one after going into a hedge and out! I spoke to Tom at the factory recently and i'm very tempted to join the club again.

I sold mine at 75k and it was 100% rock solid and drove like brand new
Alas!!
Some who tells it how it is!!!
I,m the same car as quick as its ever been....took her out today and abused her!!(can i say that) quick as shes ever been.

bravo...there are some miserably sods who want others to share in their misery...their first posts were HP/deposits/DRC/etc....
you see them whining and crying wolf on a non-stop basis
disagree? and you are 'bad', 'wrong', 'clueless', 'brainwashed', etc.
this feeds their needs for negative things...they get a sick thrill thinking they have made you, a bit more like them...miserable
they have SOP:
NEVER answer a question
NEVER contribute positive
always redirect the conversation back on you, by asking the same questions (even though you've answered them)
always a snide, insideous, back-biting insult, dressed as a feigned 'compliment'
they are ALWAYS the victim
it's generally malignant, and they can't help themselves, it's up to us to 'humor' them, rise above...sometimes they don't even know they are doing it...so we pity them
it's predictable...and human nature, the worst part
so they make stuff up: 'deposits', 'DRC', various 'issues' to dwell on...
but even if 'real' who cares about things like that?isn't there more important things in life?
they fail to realize, who cares about 'deposits'?
who cares if DRC leaks after 40k miles? (and btw, you have a 75k warranty, find other oem shocks with that)
is it worth all the hand wringing and drama?
will you give a damn about it in 25 years?
they seem angry if you are happy, lol
they need to learn to seperate the wheat from the chaff
the big stuff from the small
and 99% is small
2 kinds of people
happy and those to be avoided
