Milltek gb continued

Post by marcr » Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:29 am

Hi all,

As Mark has had to pull out I have offered to continue the gb so here goes. I have spoken to the company and they would ideally like 5 orders but realise it may end up as 3 so we need 100% confirmed orders and a 24hr period where we will all phone and pay as previously mentioned.

At the moment the leadtime is 3 weeks but this can stretch to 7 ish if our order isn't in soon.

Marc - B7 RS4 Avant, Cat back, non-res, valved, Polished silver tips, delivered
stoddie- b7 rs4 avant, cat back, non-res, valved, black tips, delivered
worsy - B8 S4 Avant, full system, ideally fitted.
MartinG - B7 RS4 Saloon, Cat back, non res, valved, black tips,
Matthew.Lewis2 - B7 RS4 - Resonated non-valved, polished tips (a maybe order) - VAT FREE but inc Delivery to Dubai

Worsy,
I have mentioned the Avant and is shouldn't be a problem if you can clarify I will get you a price, ie full system inc cats, manifolds (if available etc)

Matthew Lewis, yes can do vat free but uses a fully tracked courier so price for delivery may be high, can confirm if you wish.

I would like to get an order in by this Friday latest so please confirm you are happy to order and pay be friday below, if we get our 3 all is good.

I will do my best to answer any questions if I can

Marc R, I would be keen to see how you get on with getting cats for worsy as Milltek advised me they are not selling them for road cars anymore because they are now type approved and have no plans for homologation of their cats.

I remember reading a few of your posts, they still list 100 cell cats on their site and price list, not really looked into it yet as in at the deep end here :D

Once people confirm I will speak with milltek/dealers and find out what's available.

It may be similar to bikes which have not for road use stamped on the cans, I'm sure my old magnex decat had not for road use stamped across it

I think its a shame that Milltek will not be doing sports cats as a result of recent enquirys etc people will go a step further and run no cats at all im sure! Its probably just upped the value of all current owners systems though woohoo

That's pretty much the case. They can sell cats but for track use only hence why you seel the listing. That said it is for the VCA and VOSA to identify whether you are running your car on the road with 'race' cats and act accordingly.

Running no cats is as bad as running sports cats as it is deemed as tampering with the OEM specification for emmissions regulation for the car. So the direction of culpability changes from the manufacturer to the supplier / installer or failing that the owner.

Personally I think it is a stupid rule aimed at the wrong category of cars but it is there and you run the risk by breaching it.

You are right about current systems, if there were a full system on E-bay snap it up! I wonder if there is a way of gutting the cats without any visible insertion or tampering so from the outside it looks the same? Doesn't account for increased noise or emmissions of they were checked but you could advocate you still have the same OEM cats.

Marc, there is only 1 system for the B8 S4 (well there is a race system as well), it's a cat back full system, resonated with dual outlets.

thanks

I'm out quite a bit today so will post the price, or pm it as soon as I can. I would really like to sort this buy next Friday at the latest so please confirm interest or lack of it.

Everyone seemed very keen at the start but now we need to order or give up, I need the noise of a milltek, hmmmm

cheers

pg there is a way ive done it!
only gutted the precats though, once welded back up and the and the shrouds put back on you wouldnt tell.

i would say gutted pre cats is enough and a good match for the ten times as expensive millteks.
p.s. my car went on to make 451.5ps at mrc,so theres nothing wrong with homemade cheapo downpipes the may even be better than the millteks!!!.

simon.

Lucky bugger. :D

It isn't looking too promising at the moment.

I will keep answering q's and getting prices until next thursday (12th) and then I will be out of this too if we don't have 3 firm orders.
