Cleaning the "alloy" trim on RS4 cab

Just taken ownership of a lovely Mugello blue 07' RS4 cabriolet and am looking for some advice regarding the best cleaning products to use on the matt aluminium trim and windscreen surround that it has.

The wing mirrors appear to be painted plastic and are easily cleaned but the other trim seems to be an alloy and I don't wish to use anything inappropriate on these surfaces.

Mugello is a lovely colour - congratulations ! I find both a bit of wax when waxing the paint or some of the rubber trim protector (Meguiars & or Autoglym) both work equally well on my Avant with silver trim. There are a few "milky" dots on the trim which I think were caused either by someone cleaning the car with something harsh or non-VAG washer fluid so I am very careful with mine. looking at your car I would be especially careful as you have a lot more trim at the windscreen - also if there are any marks now I would have Audi replace the trim while you have the chance as a condition of purchase - they don't seem to come off/get any better with cleaning.

I find it strange that it seems to be the least popular colour amongst folk concerned with resale values of RS4's but to me it was a no brainer as we have a Moro blue 3.0 cab for my girlfriend as it is her favourite car colour so it just looks like we have a newer version of that now on the drive (the perfect Q car for us).

Yep, mugello blue is a great colour....as mines is that.
Congrats on purchase. Mine has marks on trim also (faint at moment) so will watch this thread with interest.

I've not seen an RS4 saloon or avant close up to compare the trim but on the RS4 cab it is more of a matt aluminium/alloy trim than I have on my 3.0 cab or S4 Avant, which is smoother and comes up well with normal cleaning products.

Re your question be careful with some of the polishes/waxes available as they do leave a milky white residue on the ally surround that is not that easy to remove afterwards, you may find it best to leave the ally surround once you have washed you car

Clearkote Quickshine Quick Detailer spray works for me on Alu and carbon trim plus cleaning all interior plastic plus the nav screen.

Brilliant stuff and not a bad QD either!

Fabulous colour BTW; what I was originally looking for in an RS4 having had a Ming Blue S3 which was the dogs danglies of colours. Persuaded to have a Sprint Blue RS4 by my dealer instead but no regrets.

I find that normal Autoglym resin polish removes all the marks on the mirrors, screen surrounds and the piece that lies under the roof at the back, but i have the dot-type water marks on the trim down the doors and rear quarters and have found nothing that shifts these. It just seems to be coloured plastic crap, so if those side bits are not mint then get Audi to replace because i think that is the only fix, but the rest comes up great.

Thank you very much for the input so far, I really appreciate folk taking the time to answer a newbies query.

There is a trace of that milky whiteness that some posters have witnessed and was tempted to try either the Autoglym Resin or some Victoria Wax Deep Cleanser but was worried that it may harm the matt silver trim around the windscreen and underneath the hood at the back.

Still loving the colour and I have only seem one other cab in this blue about two years ago. I have been looking seriously for the right one for about six months and had been angling for the dark blue with a pale interior so this was a shot in the dark but in the flesh works really well for me as the interior almost looks like a charcoal grey - so all in all, very happy so far.
