Hello.
I was wondering if anyone out there can help me?
I'm carrying out a study into Engine Sumps and need to look into one that is powered by Twin Turbos. Therefore I have chosen the RS6 engine.
The info I require is practically everything about the sump from how it works, construction to pics and dimensioned drawings.
I can understand that some of this info may be difficult to obtain, that's why i'm on this sit cause if anyone knows someone here will, but even the slightest bit of info will be great.
Regards,
Fran.

Sorry to forum owners/admins/mods, I'm about to mention another forum. If you register a user account on rs6.com, there's a self-study guide (in German unfortunately) with a few brief details of some RS6-specific bits relating to oil cooling and flow in the members-only forum...
There's not much info there, but there is an oil flow diagram (low res though) and the follwoing text (translated by Babelfish):
This isn't quite what you're looking for, but it might be of some interest?
There's not much info there, but there is an oil flow diagram (low res though) and the follwoing text (translated by Babelfish):
The oil circulation of the AUDI R-S 6-V8-Biturbos corresponds as far as possible to the structure and the function of the V8-5V-Motors (see in addition also SSP 217). With two superchargers for increase in output additional temperature-intensive construction units in the oil circulation are merged. The Abregeldruck in the oil circulation was increased by a constructional change at the oil pump. This measure secures the constant supply and thus also the cooling of all engine construction parts.
The oil temperature increase resulting from it is taken over radiators working by two from each other separated. 1. circle - by that oil water heat exchangers in the oil filter module already admitted 2nd circle - with the air oil cooler, which in front-end yourself underneath the cooling agent main radiator finds (see in addition page 28)
This isn't quite what you're looking for, but it might be of some interest?
Re: Engine Sump
Oh, and SSP217 has been floating around the Internet as a file called "V8-5VEnginePart1.pdf" on some of the forums.
Re: Engine Sump
haha
you should study the WRX STI sump, cauz it SUXS !!
No baffles and on select tracks, its causes oil starvation and blown motors. This happened to a friend of mine, and the local workshop Possum Borne motorsport which is 200m from the track gets an STI every 2 weeks with the same blown motor caused on the same series of corners and accel' into the straight.
