Anybody driven a Q5 yet?

Post by MartynC » Sat Jul 03, 2010 5:58 pm

Thinking of buying a 3L Q5. Had a Q7 on loan and liked it but TOO big for multistories etc........Performance figures don't look bad and there are a number of upgrades to 300 bhp for the 3L diesel.......

I was really keen on one for the wife - although hadn't driven one. All the reviews were excellent. Turned out to be a 6 month waiting list so bought a new Freelander instead.

I drove the 2.0 Q5 for a month. Competent , in typical Audi style. But devoid of any spirit. I kept thinking a larger engine would have solved and so do think you will not be disappointed. A weekend loan for 500 miles will convince you.

I too liked the Q7, but most of our roads were built at the time the average car was a quarter the size of the Q7.

I had one for a few days last year - I think it was a 2.0 TDi (but not sure  ).
Really liked it. Compact enough to not be a problem parking or driving down country lanes, but had the typical 4x4 elevated view. Did several hundred miles in it, two and four up, and found it very comfortable. Typically good Audi interior which puts it well above the X3 IMO. Nice to drive, and quick enough on the motorways, if a but sluggish up hills. I recon the 3 litre diesel would be a really good car.

Thanks for that chaps. Just found out it's a 6 month wait for a new build.......It sure looks good though, driving one next week when my Plus is in for service.
