correct engine oil? AND has anyone had to top theirs up

As above really. I ran a c5 RS6 for 3 yrs and never had to address oil top up. Had my RS6 C6 for 5 weeks and the oil top up indicator light has come on. Have any other owners needed to top up inbetween services? if so which is the correct oil and who favours what? eg Mobil 1 do 2 types
ESP Formula 5w/30 or ESP 5w/30 or do people use shell, castrol etc or is there no need as nobodies needed to top upd

About a litre every 5,000 miles or so.

My B6 S4 was the same.

Castrol Edge 5W 30 is what most will use but Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W 30 is the same Audi spec.

Topped mine up for the first time a couple of weeks ago - one litre of Castrol Edge 5W30.
Best bit was it was free when I bought four litres of the stuff from opie.

Mine seems to like it almost as much as petrol.
Usually requires a litre around every three thousand miles or so.
I use the Castrol Edge 5W 30.

Same as the rest Castrol Edge 5W 30... one litre over 12,000 miles .. first half litre went in at about 6.5K ... 2nd half spread over in dribbles until Oil Service at 11.5K

Hi - I'm new to the forum and as of yesterday Audi/RS6 ownership. I had mine for say 40 miles when I got my first "hello" light, and that was the oil. Glad to read this that it's all pretty usual fayre .
