With a FBW throttle it would be fairly easy to program in you just need to keep pumping fuel through the system when the throttle is closed but it is a bit like smacking the turbines with a sledge hammer to crack a nut.

Yes I agree. Half of the job is already done with the recirculation system (i.e. the DVs). This prevents the turbos stalling. If all it takes to keep the exhaust fired up is to <beep> the ignition then this is all possible with a simple ECU remap.

I imagine the cats would die quickly too...

certainly not to any noticable extent

Excellent, it's the future. Now when does my warranty expire

I did a careful comparison of Joshie's torque/power curves against my own. There is a slight lag, but only very slight. I too was rather surprised by this.

However do the same with the RS4 and the lag will be more. This is partly due to the different cam profiles.

My warranty expired 18 months ago. It'll only be my turbos expiring which will make me upgrade, otherwise I just can't justify the cost

Just been talking to a friend about this. Just had the KO4's put on my car, and, more turbo lag which I knew was going to be the case.

Sometime I have the problem when chaning gear the boost is lost, I would like to be able to keep the turbos spinning to stop this.

It's the job of the DVs to stop the turbos stalling due to back-pressure when the throttle closes. The ECU opens them using vacuum (such a crude system), but they are closed with a spring. In my experience if the spring is too weak after the boost is increased, the DVs can take longer to close.

What DVs are you using and what changes if any were made when you had the KO4s fitted?

It was when one of my turbo's went that I went for the upgrade, there is no way I would have done it without being forced into it ... but good fun now that I have!

Well, the VAG tool should be coming any day now ... so time to sit down and play with it to see if I can shed any light on the issues
