Fitting video kufatec cable?HOW??

Post by seanypeeps » Fri Jun 04, 2010 8:22 pm

Hi guys just ordered the vid cable for my rns d ( 04 rs6 sat nav bose) so decided to rip out the boot and get the cd player and what i think is the tv tuner(black box under the cd?) but unsure how the new cable will fit or where. On the back of the tuner there is one black large connecter and two smaller one green one brown will the new cable replace all these or any? how will the existing cable get plugged back in? Cheers for the help guys this is my first post as only had the car a 8 weeks and starting small then doing some major modding! Sean

In the back of the tuner (you identified it correctly) there's a big fat cable. You need to remove this cable and insert the Kufatec bit in the end connector. YOu'll see that the connector is composed of 3 rows of connectors. You need to slip your Kufatec one in the middle slot IIRC.

The cable you've bought (if I understand correctly) looks like this:

The 54 pin TV tuner connector look like this:

Basically, you slide out the existing bar (one of the 3) and you replace it with the kufatec one. I'm guessing there'll be instructions with it.

What will you be plugging in there? You may need a ground loop isolator if you get buzz.

Yup. That's what I use mine for. Anything that has an AV output. I also have TV tuners attached to mine, and until recently an AUX audio jack socket I installed for my iphone. Aux input is still there, but the iphone now goes through an xcarlink.

Thats the one from kufatec, linked from the one of the million helpfull links on here. Sticking an ipod in the one aux for sure then most prob a doovdie in the other as we catch loads of ferries to get off the rock so have loads of time to kill. Ill have to look tmrw as been outside and a little late/dark to start messing around. You mention instructions it's from a german site so not sure if i'll understand them so i'm sure i'll be shouting help a few more times yet :D

I think you'll work it out. I needed a GLI for my iphone otherwise the interference was terrible. Don't know why. I used one that looked just like this:

ACtually, I just remember something really important. The quality of the sound you get from the Aux inputs on the tuner depends on the TV standard you choose for the tuner. This was utterly weird and I only figured it out after the sound went horrible from my iphone. I think NTSC sounds the best, some of them are absolutely awful. You can cycle through them and decide what one you like best. Of course, if you want the video feed, too, then you'll need to choose the right one for your video output. Probably PAL I for the UK.

Takes a bit of getting used to. I was baffled at first. Expecially since I had electrical problems. Don't hesitate to ask. Plenty of good people on here that'll be happy to help.

There a few places i have found
http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info ... Tuner.html
http://www.nav.tv/category/7/63/220
http://www.ballistixdevelopments.co.uk/ ... 2vc43e4im0

The one from Kufatec is the cheapest but around a tenner in postage so go the route you need too! :D
