Craigyb -tclsatnav, not recommended.

Post by Jamiemg » Thu Jun 03, 2010 10:53 pm

Got craig to install Bluetooth and an iPhone dension cradle to my rs4 costing £480.
While installing he took out a tv cable, resulting in the tv not working. He also took out my cd changer without giving me a part to cover up a huge hole in my glovebox!
Still waiting two months later for him to return with the glovebox cover and for him to re-install my cable. After weeks of me phoning him and him promising to come I will get it done elsewhere costing me £100 at least!
Nice one craige, it was a pleasure!

Sounds unusual - I've had no problem with him, and many others here think the same. When my earlier Dension died out of warranty, he offered to send me a replacent FOC. I wonder what happened here?

same thing happened to me.

he installed the kufatex/alpine ipod system into my rs4. it kept loosing its coding and it took me a bit of harassing to get instructions on how to recode it... i then swapped my old rs4 for another rs4 avant and paid him to take the system out, which he did no problem... arranged for him to come back to re-install... cancelled last minute due to traffic, and thats the last i heard from him...multiple voice mails, texts, pm's on here etc etc...

nish.

several hundred quids worth of gear sat in my cellar doing nothing, and back listening to CD's.

i gave up in the end, which is a bit <beep>, but what can a man do?

a simple reply with a recommendation for someone to refit would have been nice, if he couldnt fit me in, but no, nothing.

craig is not a paid up trade member here, this actually amounts to free advertising, albeit you impressed with his work, and ONE insertion IMO is fair, as a satisfied customer.

Jamiemg - sorry to hear this. Just to add some balance i used him and found him very knowledgable. I thought his work done on my car was top drawer. I am very pleased. Evidently a very busy man as it took nearly 2mths to book him in. Like every business , there are happy/ contented clients and in your case not. Hopefully your issues are rectified soon. I am sure Craigb will see these posts as he is a regular visitor to this site and will hopefully respond back to you.

Well I don't normally have to defend myself as my work speaks volumes. I agreed to travel to Jamies location in north London only to find it on a busy road, so I asked if we could move the car to somewhere safer for me to work and park. Eventually the RS4 was moved to a safer location but with little space to work.

When removing the nav system to fit Ipod and bluetooth I found a rats nest of wires from a previous 3rd party TV installation of some description. I did my best to tidy up the wiring and add in the phone system and Ipod. In doing so I removed what I thought was a TV in motion enabling unit and actually to save space I soft modded the RNS-E for TV in motion so the unit was no longer required or so I thought, good intentions and all that, but I admit maybe a bit of testing of the 3rd party system should have taken place.

During the installation Jamie was back at his own place and when I had finished I texted him to come around as he seems to find it difficult to use a phone for a conversation and never has called me since, I waited and waited and eventually after calling him he turned up and seemed quite disinterested in anything I had done. I explained about the missing trim that I would replace on my next visit, he paid me for the work and I left.

I have missed several opportunities to get back to him and rectify the fault like I said I would. The last chance I had Jamie texted me to say his car was off the road, so we couldn't do it then. Over the past week or so I have been out of action with a bad back and not really been travelling anywhere. But I have the trim here and I am quite willing to visit Jamie at the next available opportunity, I understand his car is back in action now.

If I remember rightly I talked you though the setup and also sent you an email with the details in.

Your installation in your first car was perfect, despite the software bug with the IMA losing it's settings occassionally, Kuaftec's design, not my installation. I could rewire to a perm live solution, but I understand that this can flatten the battery.

Yes in a way I've been a victim of my own success and I'm spreading myself too thin at times. The past few weeks haven't helped, but I'm back on the mend now.

hmmm.

twice you've arranged to come to mine to sort me out for seperate things and twice you didnt bother...

why did you ignore me then?, my call, my texts, answerphones, and my pm's on here? on both occasions?

for the record i was really happy with the install, you were proffesional throughout, and i was chuffed to bits...but it kept losing its code and the first time you helped me out, but then blanked my request when i couldnt get it grafting... i had to get the instructions from someone else with the same problem....first fob off...but i got it sorted and honestly thought you were a busy guy and i thought nothing more of it.

i used you again, and again i was happy with you sourcing and fitting the tt-rs wheel into my rs4, but we arranged for you to come back at my cost for you to install the correct badge and collect the screwdriver you left at install...weeks of ignoring me, i ended up getting awesome gti to do it for me, (for free)...

then when i traded my rs4 in for my avant, i thought, i'd try you again, and you came to remove the kufatec/alpine, ready to go into the avant...no problem, all went well and you even got your screwdriver back...

for a few days you were busy, property developing and then you couldnt come due to your london trip, two weeks elapsed and we finally agreed a date...and then you didnt show up, no problem again i thought,,,but then you ignored my calls, and my pm's and my texts again....4 months in and its still in a bag in my cellar...

i gave up on you dude...having used you a couple of times and chucked the thick end of 1500 quid at you all told...

sorry, but dont make out its your customers fault...a simple phone call would have sufficed..you had ample opportunity right the way through...

I've not blamed you at all Jonathan.

Yes I have been busy, but to accuse me of taking the thickend of £1500 from you is taking the p1ss.

You have had 3 visits to your home at a time to suit you, I've purchased parts for you at the best discount I could get from Audi Manchester, collected / delivered them to you. You actually bought the airbag your self for the steering wheel, so I never saw any part of that.

In total for the 3.5 hours I've spent at your home I have earned a grand total of £140 for my time and expertise. The rest has been spent on parts, the steering wheel being the most expensive, plus the airbag which you bought. You could have had the steering wheel removed when you sold the car and the old one put back, it would have fetched the same money nearly as you paid for it.

Now if you can find a plumber/electrician etc that will work for those rates and provide the expertise then go for it.
