wine?

not that sought but thought it would get some attention,
is there anything that can be done to reduce gear box whine
or am i the only one with this problem, does it only happen
on the tip gearbox,any advice welcome.

I'm not sure whether it is the gearbox. It is more likely the timing chain drive on the rear of the motor or the four wheel drive system/rear diff!

I have a manual gearbox and still have a whine, but saying that it is not particularly loud and obtrusive, it's just always in the back ground.

You were right, the heading did get my attention. Thought you may be giving away free wine! :drink:

would a gearbox oil change help ?

Unlike the Multitronic box the Tiptronic box does not require a box oil change, as according to audi is a lifetime fill. The advised change interval for the Multitronic is 40k although every 25k is advisable as they are prone to failure.

I did some research on changing it anyway as I tend to edge on the fussy side, and generally found that some of those people who had opted to change the oil had experienced problems soon after. Needless to say I havent changed it.
