Rear anti roll bar swap.

Post by infrasilver » Fri May 14, 2010 8:49 pm

I am going to swap my standard rear anti roll bar to an RS4 24mm (I think it 24mm). I hear that it will cure understeering in the S4.
I am off to the Nurburgring next weekend and my only worry when there was the understeer that I get when I really push the S4.
Has anyone done this conversion and have any results from doing it. If it does cure understeer it will be a bargain because Audi only want around £80 for a roll bar, bushes and brackets.

On a side note will anyone else on here be at The Ring next weekend? It a full weekend Touristfahrten.

Supposed to be a really good mod. I was going to do it but then read reviews of the Hotchkis RS4 kit and got those instead.

It'll leave the car nice and neutral

Loads of people have done it and it's a brilliant mod for the money.

I found that it turned the car from one that'd understeer to one that'd drift sideways. i.e. if doesn't make it a tail out car.

Having said that you can still provoke understeer or oversteer just like any car and there's no defeating the laws of physics. At the end of the day you've a big lump of engine hanging out front.

I was really glad I did it.

For the install, make sure the rear wheels are taking the cars weight when you change it otherwise you'll get twisting on the ARB when you lower it. I just took it to a local exhaust place and they used a drive on lift to do it.
