Newbie RS4

Hi guys, My name is Yaz I live in Essex. I just chopped in my BMW E92 335i auto for an Audi RS4 cabriolet black with red roof and Recaros. Luv the car but it needs a bit more shove! I'm thinking of induction kit and remap. Can those of you who have had remaps done tell me if it is worth the money??

Not unless you are going to remap it with a Milltek / Tubi / A.N.Other performance exhaust. Remapping a n/a engine on its own won't give you much more ponies or torques like in your 335i

I spoke to DMS and apparently any messing with back pressure on these cars and u lose power not gain?!?

That's subjective to the exhaust and the remap you use TBH.

Guys on a similar note, how are these cars for launching? Can they take a good 6Krpm and side step the clutch?? Or am i looking at a new clutch and flywheel every week by doing that? Lastly, is the myth about 1st and 2nd gear being limited to 250 or so HP true?? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Yaz, whats it like to drive compared to the 335, does it feel a lot quicker? or not as you don't have the turbo kick in the back.

if you have a standard clutch then I would advise against this!! It won't like you for it!

Hi mate, to be honest mate, to me the two cars feel pretty even (my 335i had JB3 tuning box on it) but when i take my mates out they say the RS4 is quicker. They are two very different power deliveries as you would know, having had a 335D as I can see from your sig. But i do miss the feeling of 415lbs/ft of torque shoving u in the back from 2.5K-5K rpm!! The same shove every time 6times, till u hit 160mph!
In the past I have had a Civic Type R and I do miss watching a rev counter go all the way to 8250rpm!! The RS4 does this but with MUCH more pull! Hope this helps, any more questions feel free to ask!

Come on guys!! Help me! Are the gearboxes solid on these cars?? Also how easy is it to replace the clutch??

I haven't read much (or any) horror stories about gearbox integrity on RS4's so I would hazard a guess that they're probably up to the task but I guess that depends how much power you're hoping to get out of the car.

6k drop clutch starts will eventually break most cars so a degree of mechanical sympathy would be advised.
You'd probably get away with a few but eventually fatigue will come into play and you'll know about it when you hear a loud bang.

Clutch replacement, well thats a relative question and would depend on your level of competence - as well as availablity of appropriate tools and equipment.

Thanks for the reply mate. I'm no mechanic but what I meant by ease of clutch replacement was, is it as simple as a rear wheel drive car that takes about 2-3hrs to do or is it very complex, taking apart half of the car and removing engine etc..

No i'm just wondering how hard the clutch would be to replace in case I DO keep the car.

It can be done, depends on who you talk to on how much; Audi say it is an engine out job but can be done without this plus part sub £900. OEM clutch is good but if all you are doing is launching it all the time get a Sachs clutch
