Audi paint warranty (10 yrs)
I hope you're right. I'd be gutted if they botched it.

I believe it depends on how much of the paint is affected. Speaking from experience, my rain channels may as well have been a mountain range, such was the extent of the damage. Mine's booked in for 22 May and will be getting a full respray.

They strip it back to the metal and start again from scratch, if they dont then they are not doing it right. The quality of the finish obviously depends on the bodyshop they use in your area but in the case of Poole Audi, their bodyshop (Poole Accident Repair - VAG specialist) has been first rate. You cannot fault the finish. If its a wing / door repair then they will strip the whole panel and then blend the adjacent panels to match. It will come with a 12 month paint warranty from the bodyshop too so you always have a fall back should you need it.

Well chaps. I took my car in this morning and was given a brand spanking 10 plate A4 2.0 TDi S line as a courtesy car. Not quite an RS6, but very good none the less!
Slightly concerned that as the seal along the rear window has slightly perished, it'll probably need replacing, along with the rear window apparently! I certainly hope I'm not going to be charged for this, as it's not my fault I'm having to have the roof resprayed, thus requiring the seal to be removed! I'll let you know how I get on!

The response from Cardiff Audi is typical and the body shop they use is awful as well. The paintwork they did on an S4 was appauling, you could see all the preparation marks under the paint. With regard to paint thickness, yes they can measure it but the fact that the panel shows more paint than the factory applied can be misleading, some cars get damaged in transit and are repainted before sale. In this situation the paint thickness will be greater, I think they should have to prove the panel wasn't repaired before sale to invalidate the claim.

A photo of my 'bubbling' paint in the rain channels, just in case it happens to you
Sorry if this comes out too large! I was in a rush to upload and ran out of time to resize
Car's a bit dusty too!

Yeah, I have a tiny bubble (about 2mm*2mm) that looks just like that. I reckon I've still got a few years to get it sorted

darren, completely off-topic, I know, but how have you found the phaeton brake duct upgrade? Worth it or not?
