Does this bring track info up on the nav screen like MP3 files on SD cards in the RNS-E, or is it just track numbers like the CD changer has?

If the nav is RNS-D it will only bring up track number but will talk to you. Not sure about RNS-E

Interested how would this connect to an RNS-D?

with a simple cable, but the unit comes with the newer connector...but the RNSD connector can be bought from ebay easily enough

If you need an RNS-D connector then PM me - I have one spare as I connected mine up to an RNS-E with no problems (but using a different wire).

Phatbox is awesome by the way, well worth the price being asked here.

no track names on RNS-E either (but easier to navigate than an IPOD).
