another parking sensor question!!!

i picked my car yesterday and being a newbie some help would be appreciated.

I have read previous threads but dont seem to see an answer.

as soon as i put the car into reverse i get a continuous beep and the parking sensor button flashes. i know that this shouldnt happen as they dont work but i would like to now if anyone thinks the whole system is buggered or whether a single broken sensor would create the same problem?

if its a big problem i will be taking the car back

It could be anything from 1 faulty sensor to a short.

You will only know once you hook it up to VAG-COM.

If you don't know anyone with it then you'll have to take it to a garage to diagnose.
