Time for some new Moderators
Following on from the bad karma in this thread - http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=83656 - maybe now is the time to appoint some fresh new Moderators.
Or give any existing Moderators a 'wake up' prod.

RE: Time for some new Moderators
Maybe this thread would also be the ideal place for others to nominate those trustworthy members for the position of RS246 Moderator.

Re: Time for some new Moderators
I am hoping esteemed members P_G, Petroldave, Caldy, Dom 81 and others will somehow involve themselves, time etc permitting.
The ball is now rolling, it is up to us keep it rolling for the long term benefit of this forum.

RE: Re: Time for some new Moderators
OK, I nominate Sims - based on his posts I've follozed, he seems to have a very level and unbiased approach to his postings.
And I'd gladly second PetrolDave - a very experienced, and highly valuble fountain of knowledge.
One other comment though - any 'nominees' who feel inclined not to take up the challenge should be respected. Being a forum Moderator can be an utterly thankless job.

It would be interesting to hear Johnerobert's or PhilT's thoughts on this...

RE: Re: Time for some new Moderators
^^^^ Absolutely.
Whilst i dont agree with ANY personal insults, this is a forum that is populated by adults. It has been run for many years and has always been self moderating to a degree, once you start having moderators jumping in every 5 minutes over petty squabbles, that kills forums even quicker.
Why do you feel the need to have someone to tell you you have been naughty and to behave? If you don't know when you have overstepped the mark and don't have the courtesy to apologise, then people tend to get wise and just ignore the offender and they soon get bored and go elsewhere.
Personally I think the mods and admin have done and are doing the right thing. Keeping out.
I think everyone needs to calm down, take a deep breath, and start again. there are obviously some sore subjects and different people have different opinions on the causes and what should be being done. If heated debate was banned, then it would be a sad, sad place. Heated debate- OK, personal insults, should never be acceptable, but do you really need a moderator to stick their oar in, or do you do what you would do in everyday life and just ignore it completely and talk to the people who actually make sense?
And I am by no means having a dig at anyone before that one is thrown in to the arena.
No one wants to see anyone leave, and emotions are high, so everyone- think about what you are posting and the way it may be construed, text has no emotion...........

I already moderate at www.audiforum.us, but since that has a different focus (retrofitting OE sat nav), I would have no problem with being asked to moderate here.Teutonic_Tamer wrote:OK, I nominate Sims - based on his posts I've follozed, he seems to have a very level and unbiased approach to his postings.![]()

But, I do look for good English (spelling and grammar) - blame that on the Oxford English graduate I worked with for several years - and open debate that allows alternative opinions without resort to personal attacks. Science and Engineering are advanced by debating differences of opinion and arriving at a consensus supported by facts (not opinions), politics resorts to attacks and ignores facts.
