the audi extended warranty is provided by Mondial. Its the same warranty that is provided in year 3 of ownership

only years 1 & 2 (<60k) are warrantied by Audi UK direct AFAIK

this is true on warranty, tried to get my sticky exhaust flap fixed on the extended, it got declined by mondial as exhaust not covered but cats are.

to be fair, the dealer fought my corner to try and get a replacement.

Same with BMW AFAIK, and yet the cost is so much lower. A M3 CSL, with the most fragile of the BMW engines & a fancy rear axle/gearbox etc, costs less than a grand. And is the M5/6 V10 500ps engine not more complicated than a very long running V8 4.2 from Audi?. Remember DRC is covered up to 5 years by Audi and the quattro system is robust and rather well established for Audi. :)

So do Mondial have more faith in BMW than in Audi, or do Audi contribute less to the warranty fund than BMW.

There are a lot of people on RS246 who do not plan to to renew their warranty, or plan to change cars and so are not interested. This makes our negotiation more difficult. We really need a 100 people on this forum (mainly RS4, S4, RS6,S6) to sign up and then we have a chance of getting the warranty cost reduced to say £1,200 per annum.

None of us are 1st cousins of Audi, we are their customers and we should make our just representations, as we vote with our wallets in buying their cars. The campaign on DRC worked for a reason, it was just and it was many of us.

Some on here are not interested purely because as a "risk assessment versus £1650 cash layout" the figures dont stack, this thread would go against mine and others theory i have to admit, but its almost an isolated case, ive been on here since the b7 was born and only heard of a couple of major engine failures which is very good given the number of cars etc I see nothing to worry about with the b7 that warrants 1650,audi are being very greedy trying to make alot of money on this product, the only way is to vote with your feet! walk away from the warranty at that price and more importantly walk away from the dealerships for servicing and repairs, the big bills are from the big labour rates,a good indy will do more for less and possibly a better job if they see more of these particular cars. The warranty is very expensive for partial cover on the car,the "all component" is laughable, you will not be protecting yourself from all bills. To the OP i would imagine a new engine will be required as any foreign objects in the bore will have no doubt damaged them and probably the head aswell

Good points.

Audi are being silly for once people give up the warranty, there will be no requirement to use their expensive dealer network.

One litre - it is an 'industry standard' (which most manufacturers now follow).

Only on the OEM exhaust and 'associated' fittings . . . .

Agreed. I check mine daily . . .

aka_dk wrote:..but shouldnt the low oil warning come on when it needs a litre?
It should - but they arn't particularly reliable. On my B6 S4, I once checked my oil and it was about ½inch BELOW the minimum - yet there was no warning in the DIS!!!

Local Audi garage admitted they were not particularly reliable and changed it

You have to check the oil in the RS4 when the engine is HOT. Checking it when cold can give misleading readings on the dipstick.

The owners manual clearly states to check when hot.

A mistake that many make! ideally it should be checked as part of a "weekly" check, along with other fluids and tyre pressures.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

don't think I advised checking it cold!? Made the assumption people know to check oil when warm.....

That is interesting as I always used to check oil warm, leave for 10 mins etc but was surprised when checked cold & reading exactly the same (VW R32) !

OK - fairy nuff. I only highlighted it because when you said "before a significant journey" - that could be construed as the car being stone cold - afterall, tyre pressures and coolant need checking stone cold.
