blistered arches? Is that all you can think of to support the RS brand.

Shame on you DK, that sounds too RS fanboy like, and unlike a true aficianado.

Check this out, from a man who owns a C6 RS6 and has driven the TTRS for longer than a few minutes.

Don't make unsubtantiated/flippant comments then on this primary RS forum, unless it is clear that it is in jest. There are people listening to what you say as a senior member on the forum, and many of them are new to the Audi Brand having owned M3, AMG's, GTT's etc.

Have you driven the TTRS to denigrate it? :) Audi, in their wisdom, gave this model an RS suffix for good reason.

I do not underestimate the attraction of this car, and am mindful of the high purchase cost.

oh im sorry Sims  allow me to apologise for making such unsubstantiated/fippant comments....although, hang on, what were they? please quote them for me ;-)

the TT RS is built in Hungary on the same production line as the TT/S, not by quatrro GmbH. It does not follow the RS246 model of practicality + obscene power, and it does not have blistered arches (note to Sims, this is not an exhaustive list!)

Im sure its a very fast car, great car to drive im sure (please quote me where I have denigrated it) but for ME, do I regard it as a true RS....

Let's leave it at that - you do not regard it a true RS in the way you understand the RS ethos. I accept that, but recognise that Audi think of it almost in the same light as an RS and certainly charge on that basis.

The positioning of products is fluid and I recognise that manufacturers attempt to cream off their past glory on as many of their products as they can.

Products are no longer as "pure" as they have been, as the RS2 for instance, and are always attempting to straddle a number of target groups.
Happens with other manufacturers too.

I would love a go, but I wouldn't buy one... I still think of the TT as being very in touch with its feminine side :)

lol, the B7 is not a proper RS either. No turbo's! Back on topic I'd struggle to choose between the B7 and TTRS. Think you'd have to test drive both, i'd expect a mildly fettled TTRS to be the sportier car but the B7 as abit more butch to look at.

That's a fair summary and reflects our opinions on the old TT's image. They are clearly trying to broaden the image/appeal to compete with the Cayman S & the Z4.

I suppose the TT/RS is the equivalent of the BMW Z4M, not 100% RS/M DNA but pretty close to be considered seriously.
