Thats funny seem to recall 380 which seems to be std power but yours is mapped???? And no it wasnt in limp mode as you reckoned as they make bugger all boost in genuine limp mode!! B5s are more hassle keeping them on power than b7s by a long stretch!

Get your facts right mate it made 399bhp at SRR and had EGT2 duff and was running 308 g/s on VAG com, it's back up to 350g/s now and running pucka. So even a limp mode B5 makes more than a healthy running B7....

As stated, its not all about figures or actual power.

Its about the driving experience and the overall package, and as much as the B5 was great back in the day, you have to come to terms with the fact that it has now been superceded by a much more refined package - the B7.

And no de-cat/downpipe/coils/remap will change that fact ;)

Agree with that, a superceded product tends to be more refined and different which does not always equate to better e.g. a 996 Porsche over a 993 version, the E36M3 over the E30 M3 are obvious examples.

I would entertain having a B5 in addition to the B7, as some have.

If there was a B8 RS4, that would be too similar to the B7 IMO.
