There are plenty of cars that can just about keep up with an RS4, but its all relative. Had the same with a BMW 540i on the A19 yesterday albeit he was by himself and I had the kids and a full boot of shopping onboard.

When it counts you could pull lengths on most cars except performance variants

I've driven an X6 35 and was really impressed, it's chalk and cheese to an RS4 but it's very good. Don't forget the X6M is out now and it's not short of poke!

owning one means you would have to look at it everyday... and if that aint punishment enough everytime you are out in it you would have to put up with people pointing and laughing at you. how do you get round that one..at least if your missus was that fat and ugly you could seek surgery or go the cheapskate route of the brown paper bag method, but with the x6 you are beyond help.

:?

How many 4 door saloons/avants are faster in a straight line than the RS4?

Corners & wet conditions are almost a given in favour of the RS4.

So less than fingers of one hand..

Throw in a few variables, and the RS4 is untouchable...... :beerchug:

i guess so, for a saloon / avant.... (although add Lexus IS F, Jag XFR, Audi S8, BMW 750i to that list)

when I was in my RS 6, I knew I was king of the road, only a super car could out drag me

but the RS 4 doesnt have that same muscle car power attribute

Unfortunately the opportunity for those moments are few and far between, even in Germany.

And the worst problem, I find, is that because of the greater congestion on the roads so many of these people will enter an empty fast lane not realising the mega speed differential and how quickly that dot in the mirror has descended on them.

I would contend that with today's road environment an RS4 would be as quick getting from London to Edinburgh, or even Hamburg to Munich. And more fuel stops for the M5/RS6.

I dunno, on my RS 6 Germany road trip there were lots of opportunities...I had an epic duel with an S5 up to 170mph, also the RS 6 & M5 have 80litre tanks

Its a good challenge though, London to Edinburgh, RS 4 vs. M5

Any takers! :-) LOL

The M5/M6 have 70 litre tanks.

For the London to Edinburgh challenge you may also need some false numberplates.

Cant agree with either of those, either of those in the twisties are seriously flawed especially the m5 in the wet,c5 rs6 would of been spanked by my tuned b5 rs4 in a straight line if its straight line performance were talking about,i think the serious competition is in very well sorted evos and possibly scoobies,if i came across an auto rs6 on a twistie a road i know were id put my money
