Update.
I phoned the tech back last night just to let him know the car was a bit lumpy on cold start as this may be a related issue.
They road tested the car from cold and sure enough she wasn’t driving as smoothly but the EML and EPC lights still didn’t make an appearance.
Checked the lumpy engine thing against their system and it was coming back as a Cold Engine Judder issue.
The fix for this is apparently SVM update – Software Vehicle Management I think he said, basically sounds like they updated the ECU.
This should smooth out the lumpiness on cold start but he still won’t rule out the intake manifold so will just continue to monitor in the meantime and keep them posted if it comes back.
Its been 2 weeks today since I took delivery so early days yet.

Good communications and dialogue with the Aberdeen Audi guys, probably helps with speaking to the tech direct.

Sounds like they updated the engine ECUs to 0090 software, that's supposed to help with rough and over-rich cold starting problems.

When I picked it up I asked the service advisor if I could speak with the tech who worked on the car as he seemed quite genned up on the RS4.
Service advisor looked like the kind of paperpusher who'd just repeat the notes on the report in front of him without acutally having any clue as to what he was rabbiting on about.

The tech did say he was a bit disappointed about not being able to pinpoint the EPC / EML problem.

Diagnostics were still coming back inconclusive with a sporadic error which wouldn't clear after carrying out all associated checks and tests - the EML and EPC light continued to remain off.

He's already replaced 2 inlet manifolds on RS4's in Aberdeen in the last 12 months and suspects my one may be on the way out too but unless the diagnostics result tells him specifically to replace a component, his hands are tied due to polices and guidelines in place with the warranty company - more so as the intake itself is in the region of 4 figures with a full days labour behind fitting.

He did say if the lights return then to get it diagnosed ASAP and he'd be in a better position to try pull some strings to recommend a replacement intake.

Top bloke!

@ Petroldave - I'll let you know tomorrow morning if she pulls smoothly out the drive.

Sorry to hear your troubles with the car, not helped by the Warranty people delaying matters as usual.

However, you should be in good hands at Hatfield Audi, I have used the group franchise since 2004 and have always received first class service from all departments.

When the engine in my RS6 went pop back in 2006, I also had to wait for warranty guys to approve the repair.

I am sure your beast will be sorted once they get the go ahead from Warranty.

Good to know we have someone up here @ Audi that has some idea of what he's doing.

picked the car up this afternoon, all fixed.

need to put straight my rant from before...

as it turns out Hatfield Audi have been fighting my corner quite hard on the warranty front, and so it was unfair for me apportion the delay on them.

also, the service advisor was able to adequately explain the faults and fixes that took place on my car and so overall, despite the 2 week wait, im happy with the service Hatfield Audi have provided.

Glad to hear that it is all sorted. Could you let us know which sensors were replaced as I have the same problem. The MOT is due soon so will ask them to check at the same time.
