David I'm assuming the kind of instance where the car stops or is rendered dangerousto continue the journey due to the fault. In other words the car breaks down.

I can see problems with this:

a) Car won't start on driveway. Battery gooses. Battery / alternator iss wear and tear item and not covered.
b) Gearbox fails. Diagnosed as wear and tear. Not covered.
c) DRC shock goes.

You see where I'm going with this.

I'm waiting to read the small print.

However if driving along and a particular part goes bang I still saw t&e potential advantage of he relatively small premium.

The policy is cancelable withing 14 days of the documents arriving.

WASP.

Further to this - my paperwork still has not arrived, and due to a foreign trip coming up this weekend and therefore no opportunity to go over the paperwork I have called the RAC and cancelled.

A shame really as their warranty department will lose business if they are this slow to process anything - and it makes you wonder how quickly a claim would have been processed Anyway!
