The E60 M5 is a lovely car. It is a better drive and is quicker than the RS6 (standard form).
RE: Re: RE: What comes after?
I seriously considered a second RS6+ (currently I have a saloon) for the wife to replace her boxster but 2 RS6's would ruin me! I looked at a range rover supercharged (remap and new pulley of course) but the plan most likely is to keep the current '6 until it dies and get a 997 instead of the boxster.
(C6 is growing on me)

RE: Re: RE: What comes after?
I too am disappointed with the looks of the C6 RS6, E60 M5 touring is definitely on my list, plus XFR if I wanted a saloon. But then if you think about saloons there's the Maserati Quattroporte...
Re: What comes after?
As someone who has both (C5 RS6 and E46 M3 CSL) I can say that the on-paper figures do not tell the whole story... Have you tried an M3? You might be surprised.Shoppinit wrote:Just looking at M3's which I quite fancy "for the wife" and the performance figures aren't spectacular if you're used to an RS6.
Cheers, Richard.

550 Maranello, 355, B5 RS4 but the winner is a C5 RS6 Avant and a part share in a fuel station and 3 free service/upgrade coupons from the Grizz

Re: What comes after?
I had an E36 M3 which was great fun to drive. This is why I have a craving for an E46.viffer wrote:As someone who has both (C5 RS6 and E46 M3 CSL) I can say that the on-paper figures do not tell the whole story... Have you tried an M3? You might be surprised.
Problem is, quattro has made my balls shrink and I'll have to get used to a RWD again

Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)

RE: Re: What comes after?
I am seriously considering a change but to do that you have to switch off your bang for the buck head. At £16-£20k what can compare? I was thinking about the RS5 until the prices came out! Now I am thinking what do I get. My current genuine list would be E90 M3, M6, 911 (997) 2s or 4s
What would be the best car from that list or any other similar? Space does not concern me anymore and the running costs of the RS6 have conditioned me to accept high running costs so that is not an issue either.
I am also in the situation that my budget can stretch if I need it too but I still like good value so deprication would be a hard pill to swallow.
I was appreciate feedback from people that have driven / owned these cars. I will of course drive them myself but I am swamped in work at the moment.
Also because I love the RS6 so much I am in no hurry and it is now a 2nd car for me with a wee VW to do my main miles.
Thanks
Steve

I don't know what next. Don't think I could do another BMW.
If fact for the first time in my life I don't look at another car and think that would be nice to have, my 6 does eveything. So the 6 will probably be staying a long time

I haven't restricted myself to a budget. I am in a position that I could spend up to £60k on a car if I really wanted to but don't think I could every justify that. Most I have ever spent on a car is the RS6 which was £25k 2 1/2 years ago.
My point is that you can't get anything for the same money so the next step will be a big one if I want to get something better.
I would guess I would like to spend between £30-£40k but if somethings knocks my socks off I could spend more.
It needs to be better than my RS6 otherwise what is the point and would hate to be sitting in something £20k more than my RS6 and thinking this was a waste!!
So budget of up to £30-40k and size not being an issue what would you get? Not interested in GTR - too boy racer.

I took one of these as a trade in a couple of months ago.alpinestars wrote:The E60 M5 is a lovely car. It is a better drive and is quicker than the RS6 (standard form).
I looked forward to taking it for a spin before it went on the forecourt for sale.
I've not really been as dissappointed in a long time.
No torque. Anywhere in the rev range. Even in the M power "500hp" mode.
Traction light always blinking away telling you how much power you're losing to wheel spin.
I really didn't like it.
My current RS6 Avant would have despatched it easily.
I did however feel the cabin was way more modern than the C5, but isn't that why a C6 RS6 would be the perfect car? Modern and I really don't think the M5 would see which way it went.
