Did I get the only crap one???
Picked up my Nogaro Saloon 3 months ago. O/S/R door was stuck shut! Went through pdi OK though!!!
Developed a whining noise at 2,500 rpm.
Went in for door lock and door card that had been....factory back order.
Diagnosed alternator required.
Fuel gauge read less than 1/2 tank when filled to brim from empty.
Went in for alternator prob. Asked them to look at problem selecting reverse when warm at the same time.
Good news, not the clutch problem that the first ones suffered from. Needs a gearbox! Factory back order, of course.
Boxing day. Oil level light came on 120 miles away from home. Tried to open bonnet....stuck. Called Audi rescue. Recovered me home. Sent man round in morning who opened it.
Wipers hit windscreen frame at motorway (85 mph) speeds.
I've formally rejected the car. I'll let you know how I get on. I want them to alllow me it's full purchase price (£41,000) against a new RS6 saloon. We'll see.
I hate this car.........

Coming up to 10,000 miles with no problems yet (said with fingers crossed and as much wood touched as possible). Sounds like you've just come across a Friday afternoon job.
Good luck with the RS6.

Friday afternoon or whatever, you just don't expect this from an Audi.
The worst bit about all of this is that the door was stuck and it still passed its PDI. What does that say about the dealer.
I would have thought that you have adequete grounds for rejection. Have you also logged this with Audi customer services?

I didn't mean to sound at all dismissive, just wanted to say that these problems don't extend to all new S4s (fingers crossed etc).
I don't know what the policy is about naming and shaming dealers on this site but if they don't sort you out properly, i.e. all problems sorted or full sale price in the RS6 exchange, it might be helpful to warn other potential customers...

You didn't sound dismissive mate - and you're probably right about it being an afternoon job because as you say you've had 10K miles of trouble free motoring which is what anyone would expect from a £40K Audi.
Think the naming and shaming comes after the dealer has had an opportunity to put matters right though.

Re: Did I get the only crap one???
Apart from the PDI incident there's no need to name and shame the dealer in question.
They've been very good since and even lent me a TT 3.2 Quattro cab with the superb DSG gearbox. (DSG in the new RS4 please)
Now if only I could give the kids away for 10 years......
Oh, and the brand manager at the dealership..I've known him for 20 years. Used to work with him at Saab.
Just proves it's not who you know...!

Fair enough. I had the impression from the original post that you just weren't that happy. And if you know the brand manager then maybe you'll get some joy on the RS6 front. Fingers crossed for you this time.
Quite agree - got to do the right thing.

I agree, what I meant was that naming and shaming is only appropriate if the dealer has exhibited a gross deriliction of service. Of course, if all gets resloved satisfactorily then the dealer should receive appropriate praise

I suspect we are all talking the same language here.

i hope you're right mate. after reading all the complaints and reliability issues on this site regarding biturbo S4s such as my own, i was beginning to worry. the Japanese cars i've had in the past have been utterly faultless.
Re: Did I get the only crap one???
It it will make you feel better i'll tell you what kind of problems my mother has with her car now. After 9K miles the car had to be serviced more than 30 times! Mostly due to some problems with electronic stuff - SRS warning light on the dashboard shining all the time, power windows not working, power mirrors nor working, power regulated seats not working correctly. Some strange noises apperaed while braking, MB changed disks and pads and later the brake fault light came on. There are also many problems with noisy roof, it has been regulated for like 10 times till now but still it hasn't been solved. Rubber seals let the air to get into cabin at higher speeds so when driving at around 120 mph it's impossible to listen to the radio - it's so noisy in there. What crap is that you may ask? Merc SL500... the new one.
