Thinking about selling!!

Post by mattler » Sat Feb 20, 2010 10:53 pm

After long discussions with the wife I`m toying with the idea of selling my 6.
The idea would be to trade it in for a golf Gti of same value and just have budget motoring for 2 years while I pay some debts off then get something special on a lease plan or similar using the new car as deposit.
I`m completely confused for the way forward but at this moment I`m not getting a chance to pay anything off or save dosh due to the relentless fuel and maintenance costs coming my way from the RS.
The car is in pretty good shape and has just had major service work ala Grizz to the tune of a new cambelt and stat plus plug change and normal service. 54500 on the clock and 2 previous owners, has a custom blueflame exhaust, stage one map and coilovers.
Not sure whether to sell at all, sell privately or trade it in.
Suggestions welcome!!

If i were you i'd keep the car and just take it off the road. If you have a good sized garage then just stick it in there, inside one of those zip up car cocoons. If you sell a 54k RS6 now you'll kick yourself in a couple of years when there are none available and the prices have gone up (cos it will happen). In the meantime you can buy a shitbox and save on fuel, servicing, insurance and tax.

yes, take it off the road. If you motivation is financial, you will sell it for a lot more in a year or two with that mileage...

Nope, more discussions have been had and its going to go!!
Just for how much is the next dilemma?? I was thinking around 15K but there seem to be a lot stuck at that price not moving at the moment.
I have a small garage which it doesn`t fit in and no space to store it.
