Hey eyeball I also had an imperial blue
escort cosworth and loved it,it was one
of the early big turbo ones which was
rare in this colour,also had one of the
early 2 door versions,a 2 wheel and 4
wheel drive drive saph cosworth.

I think looking after your car is the main
factor to a reliable engine,someone could
have a standard car and rag it from cold
or like myself I have a mapped car and always
warm it up and cool it down but unless
we have owned the car from new we never
really know it's true past.I just chose one
that looked like it had been looked after.

My escort was the small turbo, its actually still seen every now and then in poynton. Lst time I saw it, it was parked up at the moorside. I also had the saphire 4x4 but I never drove it as it came as a part x againt my escort and it too got sold straight away.
Like you say, the ware and tare on a car sometimes only can only be told by having a general feel about things and how see looks in general also how well its been maintained and serviced.
I must admit, my car hadn't been run for about 2 weeks and I fired her up on friday and its always nice to hear nothing untoward when she starts first flick.
