...so no potential to extend
Not quite true.
You can add Audi warranty cover to any Audi for an additional premium, as long as it is less than 100k miles. There is no age criteria.

But check the costs for a 6:

£2376 to extend an existing warranty (12 months 15,000 miles limit)
£2764 to extend an existing warranty (12 months unlimited miles)
£3841 to add a new warranty (12 months unlimited miles)

With those prices, makes it more financially viable to buy the car from a dealer where the warranty is already included in the sticker price.

...if you can find one.

those figures are ridiculous

i think we might see one or two more RS6's with Audi warranty for sale round about warranty renewal time at those prices!

For my car I had upwards of £5k work done at Camberly within a week of me owning it, I now have warranty for another 14 months....... mine had a good as gold service history etc etc

These cars are expensive, but at least it’s a known cost rather that a call telling you that you need yet another mortgage (following the one for the fuel bill!)

It does mean driving without the worry....... Will also make the car worth more/the one that sells as there seems to be less and less with Audi cover.......

Just my thoughts.

but how much over inflated are these costs due to Audi's ridiculous labour rates

just looking at my invoice for replacement gearbox last july, which was charged to the warranty company, and the labour rate is "only" 68.64 + VAT.
The total cost came to 5174 GBP.
The question is, if this wasn't a warranty job, would the customer have to pay the full 90 to 130 GBP per hour + VAT labour charge ??
If so that would add up to another startling 1800 GBP to the total (24.94 hours).
that'll be 7 grand please sir.
blimey............

My invoice to warranty was at a lower lab rate, still came to a large fortune……

Big part of it was engine out costs, but on the 6 it does seem that to do anything either the front end is coming off or the engine needs dropping out!

This might be off topic but I'm very new here. I've noted that some of you guys commenting have a few modifications installed e.g. suspension, remaps, exhaust and over-sized tyre sections. How do these 'mods' fit within the warranty constraints?
It could be argued that something such as a non-OEM exhaust would cause turbo damage. A non-standard tyre width could relay untested stress to the DRC (especially if they're Vreds 275s inflated to Vred recommendations). Not forgetting the common garden variety remap that's easily able to twist an extra 50+lb into the trans.

I'm not trying to recreate the Fight Club "automotive recall" scene to my new single-serving friends, but, I am Jack's complete surprise if you're able to claim warranty when your 6 has a modification.

How is it that Audi doesn't crucify you? How strict is the Audi warranty on mods... and most importantly, where are the most 'mod blind' Audi service centres?

:sekret:

the likely answer is

a) they dont know [due to stupidity or ignornance]
b) they dont care
c) depends on the type of work i.e. if your £5k gearbox goes pop, you bet they'll be searching for a map

Just a note guys; Warranty Direct are back accepting RS6 policies. I took mine out yesterday. I asked the WD chap why they had previously stopped and he said that the previous underwriter was getting far too strict on particular high performance cars; RS6, AMG etc. They had to change as many of their long term customers were leaving in droves.

My policy cost £710 + £60 inspection fee which provides the premium policy and covers everything at high risk; DRC, gearbox, turbos etc. It even covers some wear and tear items for the first 90 days.

Im a new owner,3 months, surely for most of us were not going to need a new gearbox, circa 5ooo gbp,2ooo pounds for a warrenty seems like alot of money for piece of mind,i know people on hear have had there moneys worth but also there must be people who have paid out a few years for a warranty and nothing major has let go,i certainly couldn't stump up an addional 2 grand a year ontop of what we paid for the car,if it lets go it will sit until we can afford to repair it,surely they are not that badly made that we all need warranty's,warranty, piece of mind,no warranty, fingers crossed i suppose... :blackrs4:

audi warranty 2.5k worth it for peace of mind, but as an insurance premium is ridiculous.

Warranty direct however at 800 is worth it and makes sense as a premium
