DRL failed yesterday, booked in next week .. 3 Recalls !
Car was in for 2 days .. Dropped it off on Tuesday and got a call around Noon saying that they needed to replace one of the headlights to fix the failed DRL ... which (as normal with Audi) they did not have in stock .. When I collected the car I spoke to the Service guy re the Workshop actions.. he knew very little about what they where Only one he could shed some light on was 95E1 which was a new set of seals on the Xenons as the original ones can leak
paper works shows ..
24Q6 - Coding of Engine Control Unit
91E6 - MMI software Upgrade
95E1 - Repair Xenon Headlights ... This WA called up repair kit A4F0 998 191 Priced at GBP 10.99 (covered by warranty of course)

Mmm. Had mine done now. As far as I know, they did not need to take the headlamps units out nor take the front bumper off. The 'fix' involved fitting some new grommets at the wiring connection point as the factory fitted seals on some cars were allowing moisture to get at the electrical contacts and corrode them...at least that's what I was told. Apparently mine were OK so it was just a precautionary measure.seawise wrote:one of those recalss will be for the DRL - they have to remove bumpers, takes about a day.
...I've still got some droplets and moisture in the passenger side headlamp unit though. Bit annoying!
well, what i do know is that subsequent of the recall the car still suffers from DRL failure warnings and other road users are blinded by my lights of dipped beam, whilst main beam is now very useful for illuminating passing aircraft undercarriages. going back in to be fixed, again. boring.simmo wrote:Mmm. The recall is for all Xenon headlights fitted to A6 within a certain production build date, the seals on the back of the headlight & some breather grommets are replaced. On "normal" A6 the work can be carried out through a grommet in the well arch liner, the RS6 doesn't have this grommet, so the bumper has to be removed.
Well, mine is booked in for Monday after noticing condensation in one of the bulbs yesterday... mentioned it to Audi but they say they'll "dry it out" before completing the grommet/seal change. Asked is they could just order a new lamp unit but no... can only do what's on the recall sheet and that's just gromet/seal change!!
Fingers crossed aye!!

4th "recall"
Just got a letter in the post from Audi .. Recorded Delivery as well so I guess "its important" to get this recall done
Letter says .. "We have subsequently established that one product enhancement should have been carried out whilst the vehicle was in the service department" .. Please call to book etc Earliest booking is next week so I guess its not "that important" ..
Code is 91E6 which was recorded as completed on the paperwork last time ... Damm annoying...

Re: 4th "recall"
91E6 is only an MMI software up-date, I'm surprised they sent you a recorded letter for that......however Audi do come down hard on dealers who "miss" recalls when the vehicle is in for routine service work, perhaps the dealer had a warning from Audi.gdavison wrote:Just got a letter in the post from Audi .. Who sent you the letter, the dealer or Audi UK?
RE: Re: 4th "recall"

Looks like the dealer realised that they'd missed the recall & wanted to get you back in before Audi UK spotted the error!!gdavison wrote:@baylissboy - Letter came from Audi Reading .. Actually signed by the "Senior service Advisor"
RE: Re: RE: Re: 4th "recall"
I've had a few intermittent warnings saying "DRL Failure" but once the car was turned off and back on again it went.
